Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Had to 'work' all day yesterday 9-8, and being the lazy mother I am didn't want to get up early and exercise, so I got nuttin'!!

Made up for it a little today. Did Elliptical 30 min @ L11, then bosu, PT crunches and push-ups. Repeat elliptical for 20 min @ L11 and strengthening stuff then one last repeat of 20 min @ L11 with a final strengthening round. I was 10 min late for the nursery, but didn't get yelled at :)

Oh, and best news: this is the first time my ITB hasn't yelled at me during elliptical!! I'm feeling some 'healing' going on. Hip was tender yesterday - no idea why - so I'm putting off starting back to walking another week :( I just don't want to push it too much too soon!!

Home to stretch and blog, now to catch up on all the crud I didn't do yesterday....

Boot camp - mostly circuit, but I improvised the cardio to what I could do. Finished off with 30 minutes of spin at 4-6% resistance total of 9.5 miles.

I'm kickin' it today! 30 minutes on the elliptical L12 - 2.6 miles, 250 calories

30 minutes spin, 5-6% resistance (foothills program) 9 miles, 250 calories -ITB not happy, especially last 5 minutes - had to slow cadence :(

30 minutes elliptical L12 - 2.4 miles 250 calories - audible pain suffering a few times due to the ITB, stupid thing! I had to really slow and take caution to keep it from buckling on me, but pushed through to finish.

Stretched, iced and am grumpy now - I'm really seriously done with this stupid band!!!

No aqua-jog for me this morning :( Forgot that I had a mole removed and that it's not a good idea to swim 2 days later!

elliptical 45 min L8 - 3.8 miles 400 calories. I decided to bump the resistance down to see if my ITB would behave a little better for a longer period of time.

Spin 45 min 4-6% resistance 12.5 miles - 430 calories. ITB behaved until the last maybe 12 minutes, then it started squawking at me

elliptical 45 min L8 - 3.5 miles 350 calories. Slowed down to keep the ITB happy and for the most part it worked. I mean honestly there is always the pain, so what do you do? Only had one second of "aaagggghhh" pain, but then it went away.

Home, stretched and refuled - ready to read painter's 1/2 marathon reports!!

*as my own side note, hip was more tender this morning than it has been in quite some time. Curious as to why, but think it may be from being on my feet all day at home this last week*
