Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

3rd day in a row with double digit miles - this hasn't happened for me in a LONG time! My legs feel SO much better than they did yesterday, which I was grateful for through the run.

Went to spin class at Lehi, there was about a 20-25 minute time period he had us going up a TOUGH hill. Yesterday I ran the beast and today I got to cycle it! Good hard class, even though I felt like I was 1/2 asleep.

After spin I went out to find Becca after her tri class, but she was no where to be found :( I had planned on doing 6.2 with her, so I decided to tough it out and do the miles alone on the indoor track (I've still had enough of the TM!). About mile 2 I decided I could probably do 9 miles, because I was doing 3 mile sections then giving myself permission to grab some water so it would only be one more 'group' of miles - easy, cheesy. Well, a few laps later I decided that if I did one cool-down mile afterward I would have 3 days of double digit miles, NICE! So, I went for it.

Becca got there when I had 3.5 miles left and she hopped on the stair master (I still don't know how in the world she does that crazy machine!!) and I could taunt her as I ran past every lap :)

I know I finished all 10 miles plus water breaks in less than 90 minutes, and the effort felt good as well. So, if I had to guess I'd say I was at an 8:45-8:50 pace for the miles. One reason I love the track (there are MANY why it stinks) is that you pass the same people over and over, and I use them as 'bait' for myself to keep the pace up. I've got to pass them at least once a mile or once every 3 laps etc, then if someone is running faster than me (which didn't happen much today, or if they did it was for maybe a mile or two) I would try to catch them or not let them pass me more than once every few miles. Keeps the brain entertained as you get dizzy from 8 laps/mile!

Look at all those double digits! Wow, I can't believe you did 10 miles after spin. You ROCK!

Great job Rachel. I'm glad your leg is better now and you can run all you want to.

Really great workout today RAD! I am impressed that you ran 10 after spin. Guess I will give you permission to call me "lazy."

Devine Miss Hardcore, nice workouts, runners are nuts, nothing like passing, what a thrill, your a real competitor if you hate getting passed. Also, nice running after spinning, maybe a tri in your future.

Toby, it's always hard to START running after spin, legs feel like jello. Once I got start though, meh not so bad.

Nancy, thanks. I'm still struggling a bit with it, but it is getting better.

Allie, that is why I had to stop every 3 miles - to stop the world from spinning!

Becca, after watching you on the stairmaster I have to take it back :) When I came around my next lap and you weren't there I started to panic thinking I'd offended you and you'd gone away. So, I was relieved to see you my next lap on the stair master and that you knew I was just being a brat!

Brent, I do HATE getting passed! There was a lady there with a double jogger that was kicking my trash - my only consolation was that she only ran ONE mile to my 10. Then I didn't feel so bad, gotta justify the guilt somehow. I'd love a tri - if there was a way to shower and dry off after the swim, I HATE to be wet more than I hate getting passed.

KP, I like getting miles in when it's sunny and warm and hubby is home to watch the kids. It's the cold and dark or TM I detest!
