Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

BBK day, warm-up just under 3 miles, then up to State St and 11400 S to do suicide hill (up to 1300E). Felt okay, but as always I was bringing up the rear - Kelli was nice enough to keep me company till the big one, then I told her to take off and kick it! 2nd 2 mile loop was harder, because we got some downhill, then had to push up the suicide hill again. However, knowing it was the last time helped mentally. Then we got to run back down to the cars, grab a drink then headed out for and extra mile. I took the pansy route, I don't like construction roads, they scare me - so I took a side street. Back at the parking lot I only had .25 left to do 11, so I ran around the parking lot a bit.

AP:  8:44 splits: 9:13, 9:31, 9:20, 8:35, 9:38, 7:51, 9:35, 7:19, 7:38, 8:24, 8:59 -hmmm...were those 2 9:30's the suicide hill? :)

Now I'm off to yoga and 45 minutes of personal training, plus I'm thinking I'll get 3 miles on the bike afterward. I'm trying to blog early so that I can be more productive this afternoon.

Yup, love yoga...not so much training! I did 5 miles in my short 15 minutes after training, just to move the legs and hopefully move out some of the lovely lactic acid, plus I like to get some reading time in too!

So you essentially said, "I just did this awesome really tough workout. Now I'm going to go work out some more!"

You are one tough cookie. Oops. I shouldn't say cookie.

Oh RAD- that suicide hill...is that the same one you drug me up when I was visiting? I'll stick to my sandhills.

Where are you finding all your energy???

It must be from the Utah peaches :-)

From Bec on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 15:19:18 from 67.177.35.60

You did awesome today! I'm expecting a full fledged report from you about your 50 miler. Poor Cheryl, did you see her face when you were telling her about that? I think she was concerned until you told her you were kidding. I was laughing inside.

Anyway, you are ready for TOU. What more do you need to be ready for that marathon? I think we are a little run down from all of this training. Well, at least I am. It will be good to have the marathon over with.

This entry is almost as long as our run this morning. Have a great day! I will ask about some shoes for you.

From RAD on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 15:58:06 from 76.27.12.70

Carolyn, Tuesdays and Thursdays are hard, but I did get to bed a little early yesterday - it helped a ton! I'd like some cookies...even if they are tough! :)

QP, yup same one. I was thinking about you this morning while I was dragging my bum up the hill! I was actually very nervous all morning, because yesterday AM on 1000 E and 11400S (just before the suicide hill) a lady was hit and killed as she was jogging! She had the light, but it was someone turning left. Crazy paranoia all morning!!! Oh, and energy...maybe I should go GET some of those peaches!

Bec, thanks...I wish I felt more ready for it. I did have a fun time teasing Cheryl this morning. The best part was that despite the CRAZYness of the notion, she was VERY supportive. Gotta love people like that! Thanks, I'll be looking forward to some new shoes!

WOW! Suicide hill in the vicinity of that fatal accident of yesterday. YOU ARE TOUGHER than a tough cookie working out some more at the gym afterwards. Do taper and haha for that 50 miler tease! Hope to see you on Sat. If not, GOOD LUCK to you at TOU.

You day looks like a week of exersize for most people, but then you are not MOST people!!!! Nice Rachel!

From Cal on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 18:13:38 from 66.133.117.3

Way to run Rachel, sounds like a great workout. (Running + the other stuff!)

What is your goal time for TOU?

From RAD on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 18:23:37 from 76.27.12.70

Smooth, thanks, I'm now onto a nice long taper...well, other than the race this Monday I am in a taper mode, for me :)

Leslie, Sometimes I wonder - I know I'm crazy, but why is it I can work out like a freak but still gain weight and others eat at McDonalds and Olive Garden every other day and never gain much/any weight at all? UGGGHH - can you tell some frustration today? :)

Cal, thanks. I'm having issues with TOU - I'd like a sub 3:40 to BQ and I think I have it in me, I'm just SCARED TO DEATH of my ITB's going out on me again and ruining all my hopes. So, I'm trying not to get my hopes up for anything other than a good run.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 18:45:29 from 198.241.174.15

Rachel, I'm totally with you on the weight gain thing. I gained weight when I was in marathon training last spring. You know that I have to be really careful in order to lose weight. I'm not one of those people who can eat anything and not gain weight.

From leslie peterson on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 18:49:29 from 76.23.61.78

Rachel and Carolyn, same thing here, it is so annoying!!! Finally after 8 weeks of bootcamp I have lost 5 pounds. What a lot of work for 5 measley pounds, however I do feel better and stronger, so I guess weight isn't everything.

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 18:58:53 from 67.42.27.114

You're awesome, I don't know how you do so much everyday! Keep it up!

From Nancy on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 22:42:15 from 76.27.11.127

Great job Rachel. Leslie and I will probably swim on Monday after she gets off work. It is usually around 6 pm. I will talk to Leslie and let you know for sure. We'd love to have you join us.

From Teena on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 23:44:01 from 67.177.20.13

Awesome!!! Go get that sub 3:40!!!! :)

From DonGardinero on Fri, Sep 11, 2009 at 00:03:31 from 75.162.190.25

Nice job, Rachel. Dang, your workouts sound intense. I don't think I could handle them. LOL

From Kelli on Fri, Sep 11, 2009 at 11:36:32 from 71.219.97.42

Nice job Rachel!!!!
