Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Well, I got up and remembered what I'd written yesterday: I WILL get out...it was late and hot, maybe bag it for the evening? Later, right? Okay, fine - I'll do it. Loaded baby in the double jogger (other kids were still snoozing, we've been night owls lately!), and did a 1 mile loop down to the end of the street and back 3X to stay close to home, with a little extra at the end to finish a 5K.

9:00 is still too hot! Add the wind into the equation this morning and ugghh - The problem is pushing the jogging stroller into the wind! It makes a huge sail that I have to push along, I was dying and I looked at the watch 11 mm! YUCK! The worst part was the uphill was into the wind, so it was doubly hard, but I pushed through and managed to average a 9:56 for the run.

AP: 9:56 splits: 10:01, 9:38, 10:09, 9:46 (for the .1)

I was  around a 9:20 or less on the downhill, wind at my back sections so I guess I'm going to try to hold onto that. I can tell my legs have lost SO much in the 3-4 weeks I've been off *sigh* I'm glad I have a beautiful baby to cuddle and cry on his shoulder about it! :) Trying to remember that running will come back, but I'll never have another little baby - must keep priorities straight!

So...do we have a pair of running feet here? :)

Cute feet. The wind was a killer this morning. Great job running and pushing the baby in a stroller. Babies grow up so fast so enjoy them while you can.

nice resistance training with the wind sail/stroller!

little D's feet are so cute.

will he be joining you this week-end for your run?

From RAD on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 15:19:34 from 67.172.229.125

KP, gotta love baby feet! Grown up feet...not so much :)

Allie, thanks- it's harder to get back than I thought it would be.

Scott, I sure hope that 'no time' comes before SGM sneaks up on me!

Cal, you know Blayde and how 'uphill' it is...so you can laugh now about me being on my way back! :)

Nancy, the wind was bad, but I think I'm just making good excuses!

QP, I like thinking about it as resistance training - much better than slow running! Yup! I don't think my legs know how to run without little D around anymore.

You're baby was so cute at the RHPC. It almost made me baby hungry...almost.

From Shelly on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 15:30:48 from 67.166.68.81

Great Pic. I love it. Are you the awesome photographer? Nice job on the run- I never could get used to a jogging stroller; the parachute effect is miserable. Enjoy the little one.

From RAD on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 15:34:42 from 67.172.229.125

Lily, if you ever want a good cure you're welcome to come run with the jogging stroller! :)

Shelly, I'm glad someone else has experienced the 'parachute' effect. It is miserable, even with just a bit of wind. No, I'm not the photographer a friend in Cottonwood Heights took that one.

From Terri on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 16:17:37 from 96.231.237.164

I love that picture. Great job getting out there, even with all your obstacles! Way to persevere!

what beautiful pictures, I love the one of you and your son, so precious. Ya, don't you worry about your running, you are a natural and will do just fine if you don't train at all. I will behind you in SG, your worst would be my best. Enjoy that baby!!!!

From Toby on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 23:12:25 from 216.194.124.37

From RAD on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 11:33:18 from 67.172.229.125

Terri, thanks! I'm so happy that you've joined the blog!!

**Terri is QP's running friend, everyone give her a shout out!**

Paul, thanks :)

Leslie, I'm not sure about that - lately I'm wondering if I can finish a 10K! However, enjoying the baby I definitely CAN do :)

Toby, I'd like to say it was easy, but it wasn't! :(

Carolyn, yeah, no pedicure could make my feet anywhere NEAR that!

From Kelli on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 12:25:03 from 71.219.99.30
