Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Last night after painting my back wasn't happy, then I started getting sciatic pains in my hips and shooting down my legs. Uggghhh, I wasn't happy. I guess that's what you get after painting the bottom 3 feet of a bedroom with 20 flippin' coats of paint! NEVER paint navy blue...it take SO many coats of paint to get a nice finish!!

Needless to say I was in no mood to wake up early and run...the gym would be enough today.

Elliptical 60 minutes @ L8 = 5 miles, kept HR steady around 155

Ran 1 mile = AP 9:05. Felt good to run, a warm up on the elliptical REALLY helped! Also knowing it was just one :)

Had to run home and shower before doctors apt. Everyone tells me how small I look, but I never put much stock in it until today. Doc is concerned, because I'm measuring significantly smaller than I should be - a change from 2 weeks ago. She also commented on my weight, I made excuses about eating crappy all weekend. Oooops, she meant I hadn't gained ENOUGH. My blood pressure was also a bit higher than it has been. So, I'm getting sent off to an ultrasound this afternoon. Do you ever stop worrying? I thought I was beyond the 'worry' point...

*Just got home and everything is perfect! Tech said everything looked right on track and he's measuring EXACTLY on date (yup...still a boy). Tech said I'm just tall and must be hiding it all (not a surprise to me!). So, all is good and baby is happy - it was fun to see a face and cute toes (WAY up in my ribs!) instead of the normal 'blob' you see at 20 weeks*

yikes! i'm worried now too! maybe he'll come early, which is what you want! but, still not for a few weeks.

take it easy, rachel! don't make me scold you...

From RAD on Tue, May 25, 2010 at 15:14:54 from 67.172.229.125

No scolding necessary - PROMISE!

I'm with you, I'd love to have him early, but not now. He needs at least another 2 weeks to bake for me to feel comfortable!!

I hope that the ultrasound brings good news.

You need to relax and let someone pamper you. No more painting!

Oh, and if you think navy blue is bad, you should try bright red.

Keep that bun in the oven Rachel!!

Good luck this afternoon. Please post afterward, pretty please.

Carolyn, everything went GREAT! Nice to have some reassurance though. Yes, I'm done painting - for a few months anyway :) I have some red downstairs and I don't remember it being NEARLY as bad as the navy, but maybe it's the 'bright' that makes the difference.

Bonnie, posted update - perfect baby, just tall mother with no belly :) So far we're in good hopes to keep him in for another month!

Yea!

That's GREAT news on the ultrasound! Nice benefits of being tall which I am soooo envy of. I can't believe you can bend down and paint for hours...I'd be flat on my bed.

From Nancy on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 08:09:48 from 76.27.19.206

I'm glad everything went well. I can't believe you are painting when you are 8 months pregnant. Being pregnant doesn't stop you from anything. I think you should try to take it easy from now until your baby comes. Notice how I emphasize try!!

From The Quiet Pirate on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 09:29:51 from 24.199.205.252

It's neat you had a chance to get an ultrasound in due to nothing other than being tall.

Glad you got to see little fartlek again before he makes his debut.

Nice job working out and getting the painting done. Is your back feeling better?
