Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Tired of sleeping in and having to run my .2 loop at the gym! So...I got up in time to do 4 easy miles around the 'hood this morning. Oh was it beautiful and worth it! Perfect l/s shirt running weather with a running skirt, and the sun was shinning bright and warm, aaahhh - can't ask for more!

Did a loop that takes me on the 'hill of death' first, which is always hard - but then is flat for a bit and then winds back down the 'hood. I like the 2nd half :) I got home and felt like I wanted to do a bit more, so I stayed close to home, but finished up the last 1.75 just up and around the school (about 1/2 of the hill of death again - but broken up). I felt SO good that last couple miles I really could've just kept running!!

AP: 8:55 splits: 10:01 (wow, a lot lower than expected for hill of death), 8:57, 8:53, 8:36, 8:59 (back up the hill of death),   8:02 (nice downhill...wow SO close to a sub 8!!).

Now I'm off to boot camp at the gym and probably some elliptical time reading until I have to go to the school and read with Kindergartners. Then I get to fold laundry, dust and mop floors...hmmm, maybe I'll go run again :)

**I added .5 to my mileage, because our teacher had us out running the .2 loop again *sigh* I wake up to avoid it, but then have to deal with it anyway! Then we did 3 min of running ladders, so between the loops and ladders, I'm giving myself an extra .5!**

10:01 is pretty fast for a hill of death at the beginning of a run. I don't go that fast at the beginning of a run lately, even if it's downhill.

Beware the hill of death...

You ladies and your running skirts. You make them sound so great! I think I am going to start wearing them. I will ask to borrow Rebecca's. I think the one she wore at Ogden will fit me quite nicely :)

Carolyn, every once in a while I feel guilty about calling it the hill of death, because I'm sure if you ran on it you'd pull a 8:30 easy. It's just my nemesis! plus, I was feeling pretty good this morning when I woke up, ready to go and not dragging always helps!

David, Becca's 'skirt' from Ogden was a DRESS not a SKIRT - sheesh, if you're gonna wear it you gotta get the lingo down first! :)

Good running Rachel. I'm trying to figure out which one you're calling the 'hill of death'...

i actually made it outside in Herriman today too. it was a nice morning.

Cal, now comes the embarrassing part where I feel guilty about admitting what I call the 'hill of death' around here. It's not that it's steep...it's just long and it gets to me EVERY time! It's running from my house (off of Blayde up to 7300W or along Bacchus Hwy (Main St) from usually 6000W to 7300W. See...easy for folks like you, but I HATE it!! The steady incline for a mile just wears me out. I was probably out too late to see you if you went early :(

6.5 miles. that is more than my "long" run for the week!

From RAD on Wed, May 19, 2010 at 19:41:41 from 67.172.229.125

KP, it's just that you're on vacation. Wait until you're ready for that marathon - you'll think 6 miles is a walk in the park!
