Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Woke up determined to run with the BBK's - snow can't be THAT bad in April! On my way driving to the meeting location I was slipping and sliding all over the place. I couldn't stop and I couldn't turn. After only 1.5 miles from home I got scared enough (see...I am a pansy) that I changed plans and decided the gym and the TM would be fine. I was hot, overdressed, sick of the stupid TM and not happy to be alone again; however, I felt a LOT better than going out to group. Don't know why, but for some reason I just wasn't supposed to go this morning - whether it was driving there or if I would've slipped in the snow as I was running (NO yak trax for me), but I just wasn't supposed to go.

6 miles on the TM all @ 9:50, but I'd play with the elevation each mile. Anything from 0-2%, just to keep me entertained.

I walked about 5 minutes to cool down on an 8% grade @ 3mph, then stretched and came home. It was nearly as bad driving home as it was driving there; however, at least the main roads had been plowed, it wasn't until you hit the po-dunk streets heading into my 'hood that it got bad - slip sliding around, again.

No school for kiddos today, but I'll head off to yoga then come home to work all day *sigh* then drive downtown for General Auxiliary training for Primary tonight, long day. 'Rest' day tomorrow to prepare for the 10 miler on Saturday - please don't snow again, please oh please oh please!!

I guess neither of us was suppose to go to running group. I could have stayed the whole time today. Are you really going to run 10 miles on Saturday?

I think you made a good decision. I hate slipping and sliding in the snow. All your take of snow is making me nervous. I think we're supposed to get a storm tomorrow, but I didn't get the impression we are going to get a lot of snow.

You're really coming back strong with your running.

I can't believe y'all are having snow!!! It was in the mid 70's here yesterday. They mowed the grass at my job which stirred up the wasps. I was sweating like a pig on my run at 8PM last night. Y'all can keep the snow. I'll keep the spring weather.

Nancy, I thought about missing you! Especially when you could stay :( I'm glad I didn't! I'm trying 10, I've got to see if I can hold up for SLC 1/2 or not.

Carolyn, I think this storm has just stalled over us, but it should move out sometime today and be okay tomorrow, rain Saturday then nice again on Sunday. Hopefully, you just get a few squalls!

KP, yeah, yeah - rub it in why don't you! :)I keep wanting to plant my garden, but we have ONE nice day followed by cold/windy/rainy/snowy days *sigh* can't wait for July!!

Devine Miss M - last long run before the half? hey - good luck - run smooth fast - no slipping and sliding - SL Half, if it is going to snow at the half, this is the year.

Brent, I'd like to try another 10-12 on the 10th as well. I'm still a little nervous about lasting through distance. I certainly hope there will be no snow falling on the half, but with my luck so far this year I wouldn't doubt it!

From Smooth on Thu, Apr 01, 2010 at 17:13:39 from 174.23.251.49

Glad you made it home safe and got in a good 6 miler on the TM.

You will LOVE the Primary training. I braved the storm yesterday and drove my presidency/board up for the training. It was well worth every single minute of it.

I'm crossing my fingers for better weather on Sat. too. May be the storm will come in the afternoon.

From RAD on Thu, Apr 01, 2010 at 17:17:45 from 67.172.229.125

Smooth, I'm SO glad to hear you say that it was good! With all the crud life has thrown at me the past couple days I'd really rather stay home in my jammies, but I know WHY I'm feeling that way - someone doesn't want me there :)

I'm also hoping the storm comes in later Saturday...at least like 11 or noon!! I am excited to have you drag me up and down the parkway though. I will see you at 7!

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Apr 02, 2010 at 11:00:45 from 24.199.205.252

I'm glad you made the safe choice to stay close to home & run at the gym.

And I agree with KP- you can enjoy & keep the snow!
