Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

whine, whine, whine - - -

Disappointment after disappointment lately. Chalk it up to hormones and turning thirty on Monday....

No running for what seems like an eternity now, plus as slowly as the PT wants me to come back I feel like it will be December before I've built up enough mileage to run with anyone again. Missing all my running friends, good times over good sweat - now I dream about running as I spin my wheels on the elliptical. I wanted new running shoes for my birthday, but now - whatever. Not getting anything I want for my birthday (yes I DID tell my husband what I wanted, but it's too hard for him - he says). Told that a 1000 sqft apartment was nicer than my home and I should get a 'nice house' like they have (perception from a mentally handicapped teenager - again hormones I tell you!). Finally just feeling tired and overwhelmed - need a good run with good friends! oh...wait...nevermind....

So back to the dreaded elliptical. Two 45 minute sessions at L8 - had to take daughter to make-up piano lesson from skiing Tuesday in the middle - nice sweat fest. Hopefully, some of these nagging hormones and nasty demons got 'sweated' out as well!! It's a little harder to outrun your demons when you are staying in one place.

Oh, and to top it all off the hip isn't feeling better at all today....maybe by the time I turn 40 it will be healed and I can run again. I think I'll just go eat some ice cream - - - it's got lots of calcium, right????

Oh Rachel, you've got friends here whether you run or not. I'm sorry you're feeling down today.

This is not what you want to hear, but maybe you just need to take some time off - of everything - to get that hip better. You've been really good about not running, but you're still working out like a machine. Maybe your body just needs a little rest.

And 30's not so old. I'll be 41 next month.

Carolyn - I guess the biggest thing for me is that I REALLY looked forward to running through a pregnancy for once in my lazy life, almost to simply say I'd done it - like a marathon almost. But here I am sidelined! I'm just afraid the longer I wait to get running the bigger my gut will be and I won't be used to it and be able to do it at all and I'll be stuck on the elliptical for the next 5 months. Like I said, more hormones and disappointments than anything. I don't like things to NOT go how I have them planned in my head! The only reason I'm not liking 30 is that I have to go to the 'fast' age group in running! Well, not only but it's still on my mind. I look at my last race card - I at least finished at the top of my game! My last race I took 1st in my AG :)

:( Sorry you're feeling hormonalized!

Just wait until you're my age! Menopause is GREAT! :)

I'm sorry Rachel. Being pregnant is hard enough without all the running injuries. Keep hanging in there and it will get better. The new baby will be worth all the hormones and misery. As in all things this will pass and you will be out running before you know it. I really miss seeing you too and I will think of you when I run. PS if you get a chance tell Annette about the run on Saturday.

RAD- I'm glad you got some calcium today. The fear of going back to the pre-running godess you is really strong, but I know that when you are healed, you'll be back in top form in no time at all.

Give yourself some time to be sad and angry, but only for a little while. You're a fighter and you'll find a way to enjoy the healing of the hip and growing of the belly. I know you can.

Just no more old people cracks.

Smooth - you're right, I should be happy I've got 'em to 'flaunt' hehehe

Nancy, I never got an email for a Saturday run. Thanks for the kind words, I know I'll be back soon - it's just a bugger right now!

QP- just keep spinning...just keep spinning. I can do it...maybe. If I wasn't so old I might be able to cope better (hehehe).
