This morning was much better running weather at 52 degrees. It was still a little humid at 84%.

this is the same run I did 11 days ago. I was hoping for better results but actually came up slower and with a higher HR. Last run I averaged 7:37 pace and 151 HR with the last two miles being in the 6's. I'm really not sure what the difference was as my HR was higher from the start. I did notice that my weight was down about 5 pounds from the previous run. Maybe I was dehydrated from the start?

If you compare this run to my fastest marathon the first 20 miles of the marathon are very similar averaging 7:49 and a HR of 152. I always say this but I can't imagine running another 6.2 miles on top of this 20 mile training run.

Does RLRF really have 20 mile MGP runs? I have heard of 10 miles easy and then 10 @ MGP .

I was going to ask the same thing as DH. I have never heard of any coach or training plan recommending more than 12 miles at mp before. Most of them say running more than that at mp can take weeks to recover fully, almost like a full marathon. I would say that if you are able to run this workout and bounce back quickly in a few days, then you are ready to run a full marathon much faster.

Any way you slice it, this is an impressive run!

I am actually using anything under 8:00 as marathon pace for records and training against the 3:15:00 plan. This plan shows this 20 mile run to be a 7:56 pace but with that said I'm also pushing to achieve the 3:10:00 training paces. Most all of them are achievable but with the long runs being a little more sketchy. Sometimes I do good and others not so good. I often wonder if I should not be pushing so hard but I seem to bounce back before the next run and do pretty good.
