Up early to go to the gym. I haven't been to the gym in a month or two.. I decided to run/ride on the Elipitical for 3 miles, then worked upper body weights for another half hour.

I'm trying to work on my schedule and I'm thinking this:

Mon - Track Repeats / Tues - Bike / Wed - Gym (elipitical & weights) / Thurs - Tempo Run / Fri - Off / Sat - Long Run / Sun - Bike (and sometimes off)

The only problem with this schedule is I'll only be biking about 60 miles but I guess the elipitical is a lot like biking.

Elliptical is nothing like a bike! Elllipticals...not a fan! I wish I would have known that before I bought one!

Looks like a good schedule. I will have to copy your routine. I ordered the book off of Amazon but haven't got it yet.

My neighbor raises emu's...they don't look like they can run very fast. Oh....now I get your point!

Steam,

I'm starting the 16 week marathon program (for a 3:15 goal pace) next week. The first day of running is:

10-20 min warmup

3x1600 @ 6:12 (1 min recovery)

10 min cooldown

Second Day:

2 mile easy

2 mile @ 6:45/mile

2 miles easy

Third day:

13 miles @ 7:56 pace

I'll run on Mon/Thurs/Sat

Looks easy ha..ha...!

Based on this last half marathon I should actully be training for a 3:20 goal but I'm going to go for the 3:15 until I find I can't do it.

How long until you'll be released to do these kinds of distances? If you can't run these distances yet I say bike,bike,bike,bike....150 miles a week or 8-10 hours on the spinner if you can.

Looks good, I'd say just bike on the days you bail on running ... like today! :)

Seriously, you could always throw in some cycling on Wednesdays & Fridays if you wanted to bump your cycling mileage a little ... just keep the effort easy so your legs are strong for the run workouts the next day! Almost all your cycling workouts are intense ... a 10-12 mile bike ride at 15 mph still pays dividends, and is a great way to loosen the legs for a hard running workout the next day.

Yes...the frequency and intensity of the biking is probably going to vary quite a bit for the next month. I'm trying to get ready (practice) for a big roping event I'm going to in Las Vegas in Dec. and at least a couple of evenings a week will be dedicated to that.
