Today was supposed to be a long run but the weather is really yucky so I decided to go to the track instead. When I started it was about 80 degrees and extremly humid. It started raining about the time I got started and continued to get heavier as the workout progressed.

On the schedule for this week was 10-20 Min. Warm-up, 3 x (2 x 1200m @ 4:33) (6:04 Pace), (2 Min. Recovery) (4 Min. Recovery between Sets, 10 Min. Cool-Down. I got confused and ran 2 x (3 x 1200's) but that's no big deal.

During most of the repeats it was raining very hard with heavy gust of wind. The rain felt like needles on my face and chest as I ran into the wind and my shoes were filed with water.

I was pleased with this run even though it was a little slower than the last time I did it.

Hopefully I can run my long run on Wednesday or Thursday when the weather cool off a little.

At any time it you not ask yourself what the heck you were doing out there? I am curious since I have those thoughts all the time when it's raining hard or 25 degrees out. haha

Way to tough it out.

DH,

I didn't mention it in my blog entry but I was lucky enough to have someone else run with me this morning. When I got to the track an older guy (56 I think) was there and had just started warming up. I had met him once before at the track several months ago. Come to find out he has been a runner (racer) since he was 22 years old. He has run 26 marathons and even Boston. He asked if he could jump in and run with me so we worked out together. He ran the same as me except about 15-20 seconds slower per 1200. It was a real blessing to have someone there this morning. When I would say something about quitting he said "this is what separates out the real runners from the rest".

Hopefully I can run with this guy some more.

Nice workout, and how cool you were able to run with another "real runner" to give you an added boost (of energy and confidence).
