Not enought sleep must make a person slow! I was worn out today and on top of that my back was causing a sharp pain down my right leg. My left hip (the pain at the beltline on the outside of my hip bone) has flared up too. I didn't feel like running :-(

The tempo was supposed to be 7:00 but I just didn't have it in me today and at about 5.5 I just gave up. Both my warm-up and slow down was very slow with some walking included.

I don't believe I will even get a long run in this week. I'm going out of town this evening and won't be back until late Saturday night (a couple more nights with very little sleep). It's probably good because I don't think I could finish a 20 miler right now anyway.

Note:
I almost didn't run. My back was really hruting and my left side/high hip was hurting. I was just beat on this run. Not enough sleep and tired.

It sounds like a few days of rest are in order. Whenever I get like that I take an easy week, which is about 60-70% of my recent mileage. By the end of the week I'm feeling right as rain.

Sounds like a frustrating run, try to get some rest.

I feel your pain on the sleep. I can tell lately it makes an impact on running. Definitely agree a little rest would help - skipping the 20-miler might be just what the doctor ordered. Have a good trip.

Enjoy your weekend and catch up on some sleep. Sometimes a few days off can do wonders both physically and mentally.

That run sounds like how a lot of mine have felt lately.

Thanks guys. Apparently part of my problem was I was coming down with something. I spend Friday night with a cramping stomach, sweating and lots of aches and pains. Saturday was a full day of Airsoft Wars in the 100 degree weather. Again very little sleep Saturday night as we got home (from the 5 hr drive) very late. Today (Monday) I'm feeling better but my back is still bothering me and my left hip is still sore. I think it's time for a little rest and recovery. I may just skip a few runs until I feel better.

From derhammer on Wed, Jul 11, 2012 at 09:22:56 from 64.245.52.2

Are you still sleeping? :-)

Ha ha...Rye, you got my attention. I have taken the week off from running. for some reason my back and hip both decided they wanted to flair up give me fits. On my Interval run last week I felt a slight pop in my hip muscle (outer leg, right where my belt line is) and then a burning feeling. This has happened before and it got very sore. Sore enough that I could barly stand on one leg. Last time I just ran through it, pain and all, but this time I decided to give it a few days to heal up. Also, my back decided to flare up for no apparent reason so I had pains down my right leg too. My back hasn't bothered me in a couple of years. When it does there seems to be no apparent reason. It actually usually happens or starts hurting in the middle of the night while I'm asleep. It wakes me up and all of a sudden the pain begins. It usually last several days and then goes away as quickly as it comes on. The back pain is completly gone now. The hip seems much better as of today. I'm scheduled to run a local Half Marathon tomorrow but will decide this evening if I actually do it. Hopefully I will be back on schedule next week with the RLRF program. Where are you in the training? Are you still planning to be on track for TOU?

Sounds like a week off might be just what the doctor ordered.

Glad you are feeling better and ready to get back at it.
