Really easy recovery run today. I thought I would be more tired and sore today but when I woke up I felt good. Yesterday, after the long run, my feet (arches) were tired and sore and my left hamstring was somewhat tight and sore at the hip joint. I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill since it was a recovery run. I 've uaually been running about 5 for recovery but decided to up that distance and slow down a little. At 9 min pace my heart rate stays reallly low. I had to reset the machine after 4 miles (45 minutes) and within the time to get the machine going again about 1 minute) my heart rate went down to 100 bpm. That's why you see my heart rate actually drop after 5 miles. Weird feeling after I got off the machine today...it felt like I was floating and not walking?

Dang that's a lot of miles this week. I wish I could run that much without some tendon, muscle or joint getting injured. Nice job this week so far.

Hey Benny,

Yeah...I'm trying to figure out how much to move up. So far I think I'm okay. I might have a soreness here or there but nothing that lingers more than a day. Most aches and pains are from something I've done the day before (speed work etc.). It seems I recover fairly quickly (for and old guy anyway). I've read something about not increasing milage more than 10% each week, does that apply when you're running 50, 60, 70 miles per week? And is the incresae in milage a more a factor of injury protection? Since physically I think I'm doing okay, I have really been pushing on the milage to mentally convince myself I can run the longer distances. Since I've never run a marathon I feel I need to go into it with more mental confidence to suceed (that is to run a BQ time). Anyway, thanks for the thoughts, if you have any more advice I'm sure open.
