Track Workout - Intervals!

Haven't done this in a while and I could feel it. My body wasn't used to running fast. Too many slow miles on the treadmill and elliptical I guess. I may also still be recovering from the 21 miler on Saturday. Overall the workout was pretty good even though I missed my mark by a few seconds. As I was running I was thinking, "I could put out a little more effort and hit the times" but I settled for a half-hearted (well, maybe a three-quarter-hearted effort). Anyway, I'm okay with it.

Notes: I was not feeling it when I started so I ran an extra mile warm-up. Got a drink after my 4th rep. Recoveries streched to 2:00 after that. Last time I did this workout I averaged about 6 seconds faster but I was pushed my effort/HR to 172 avg.

Great job Preston, not easy doing 800 repeats 3 days after a fast 21 miler!

I agree with JG, still pretty good that you got close to your target so soon after a faster 21-miler -- those things stay with you awhile. Nice going.

Wow! That is a really solid track workout! Do you plan on doing another interval workout before Cowtown, or is this the last of those? If you are doing another, do you plan on changing distances from 800's? Just curious.

Thanks guys for the encouraging comments.

Tom I will have two more interval workouts. Next week will be (5) 1000's plus warm-up and cool-down and the week of the marathon will be (6) 400's plus warm-up and cool-down. I'm not looking forward to the 1000's but I am looking forward to the 400's :-) This is all in the RLRF training plan. I'm only mixing up my cross-training and adding some miles there.
