I don't know why I log miles as "Easy Miles". When I run this slow it just seems like torture. It seems to make me more tired than running fast(er). My goal was to keep my HR below 140. It's obvious I have a way to go before being recovered, I have run this same route at this HR goal and averaged 8:50 pace.

Those easy miles do have some benefits - you will become more efficient at them over time as well.

I am also out of breath a lot since the marathon, I think it's common for a few weeks...

Good recovery miles IJR! I am no expert on HR training, but I do know there are a multitude of things that can cause you HR to fluctuate from one run to the next .. so I would not fret too much! Lord knows I would never PR with a HR monitor, cuz I would freak myself out! :)

Don't be frustrated! The vast majority of all your running should be at an easy pace: you get nearly all the benefits of running fast, along with a much lower chance of getting injured.

It can take a few months to be 100% recovered from an all-out marathon race.

Thanks guys...good advice. I was going to run today (Wed) but it was lighting at 5:30am so I went back to bed. No chance to run during the day so I get an extra day of rest :-) It's probably not a bad thing. My legs feel really good today so I'm excited to see how it goes tomorrow. Maybe I'll run 12 somewhat slow miles.

Hope you got out today, but in any event the priority is to take however long it takes to recover. Even when you feel good you will be slower for a while, if you are like me after a marathon.
