First day back from the cruise. I went to the High School track this morning at 5:30. The track has been refinished so the surface is really good now. It used to be very rough. I haven't been to the track for several months. There is only one street ligh near the track so it's pretty dark at 5:30 :-) Today was Repeats (going by the Run Less - Run Faster program). Since I ran all last week on the treadmill, I decided to repeat the workout on the track and see how it compared to the TM. I don't think it was much different, except for my resolve to complete the workout. The TM is kinda like someone pacing you...making you exert the extra effort. On the track I caught myself slowing down at times and having dought about finishing. My recovery time/run between repeats was longer and easier than on the TM too. I biked yesterday for 30 miles (pretty hard) so my legs were still tired from that also.

I'm finding that to be true also with treadmill running. Nice workout anyway! It's great weather for running and cycling, even in Idaho!

Welcome back! Hope you had an awesome cruise! Track workouts really help speed, I wish I did them more often! That is the plan for November & December after my marathon! I really think improving 5k & 10k times is the best way to make marathon pace feel easy!

From Dave S on Mon, Oct 17, 2011 at 19:30:31 from 4.253.96.167

Nice workout! It must be nice to have that track finally finished.

You're running great right now, definitely time to race! Nice workout!

Nice effort on the 2000's. Keep it up!

Rye,

I run with the treadmill @ 1% slope but I'm thinking about going to 2% and see if that makes it feel more like the road.

JG,

We'll see...this program basiclly has Repeats, Tempo and Long Runs so two out of the three are really track work.

Dave,

Yes it's nice now (and fairly close to my house) but I wish there were some lights :-)

Joe,

Thanks...but I'm at that point where I'm not very confident.

DH,

Sure would be nice to have someone to run some of these workouts with...It's sometimes hard to "keep it up" by yourself :-( Thanks for the advice on the races!

Oops...Mis-entry, this was on the track and not on the treadmill.

Good track work out, hope the cruise was enjoyable!

The cruise was great but my wife and I both came down with the stomach virus yesterday.

From Dan on Tue, Oct 18, 2011 at 22:41:58 from 24.209.83.20

Oooh Stomach Virus - that is never fun. Get well soon!

From Steam8 on Wed, Oct 19, 2011 at 13:27:02 from 166.70.55.77

What cruise? I haven't been on in a bit....too depressing for me. Hope you and your wife are feeling better. I hate the stomach flu!
