Stayed with Tom and Kim at their Pleasant Palms Condo.  Much better than a hotel!  A great please to vacation with a family.  The day before the race we went swimming, shuffle board, miniture golf, etc..

Tom drove us to the start.  It is always nice to get to relax on the way to the starting line.

Warmest start to the St. George Marathon so far.  I only ran 13 miles in August and couldn't train good in September because of Tendonitis so I new I wouldn't be anywhere near my Sub 3 time in June.  I always cramp up on low miles if I push to hard.  So I decided to run behind the 3:20 pace guy so I wouldn't go out to fast.  I was also hoping to run with Matt Larson who was going to do the same.  However, Matt started back to far in the pack so he didn't ever catch up to the pace guy.

This ended up being a near perfect pace.  I could tell after only a few miles that my last weeks half marathon didn't leave my legs fresh.  My calves were tired and aching some.  I ate about the equivalent of 3 bananas along the way and a couple of mini cliff bars.  I also drank gatorade and water at about every stop also pooring some water on my back, hoping this would help with the cramping.  From mile 15 on my legs were going back and forth trying to decide if they would cramp up.  With 3 miles left my legs were doing ok so I tried to push and see if I could run some sub 7 miles.  I was at about a 6:45 pace for that final push and then my legs said "Not doing this or it's Cramping time" so I had to slow it back down.

Glad to see you got home safe and sound. We really enjoyed this weekend, even Kim with her fun potty problems!

Nice job running a smart, fast race.

I was happy to hear that your tendonitis didn't cause you any problems. You are one gifted runner to be able to run so well on limited training.

All that soccer training paid dividends. :) Glad you were able to do so well considering the injuries.

hey, we ran the exact same time!! I never saw the 3:20 balloon since I started with the elites (where I didn't belong, 25 seconds back). Would have been wiser to start there. Way to finish strong. Injuries plagued me as well. So I know how you feel. At least we finished : D.

Nice job at finishing in the top 10 percent of your AD.

Terry, Sorry about the injury bugs the last little bit. You are amazing to do so well with the limited training get healthy and I will see you soon.
