Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

9PM:  First post-marathon workout. 4.72M in 39 mins. Felt pretty good other than a pain on the top of my right foot. I think I tied my shoe too tight on that foot on Saturday. The funny thing is that I don't recall it being an issue on Saturday.  Gonna take it slow this week and shoot for 25-30 miles of easy running before I start ramping the marathon training up again next week for the Pocatello Marathon on Sept 3rd.

9PM: 2nd easy post-marathon recovery run. Feel much better. No soreness in the quads or calves anymore. Right foot is still sore but a couple of days of icing it and it is coming around too.  Off of work all week and I've been getting some long naps in the past 3 days.  Midday naps rule!

2.8M really slow w/ the kids. Wife is in AZ and I took them to the park. They rode their bikes and I trailed along. My girls can keep up a good pace but my 5 yr. old gets tired pretty quick. Had to stop numerous times but its all good. They had fun.

3M late this evening. 7:45/mi pace overall.
