Qualify for Boston Marathon. Personal: Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.
"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize:
Finally got a chance to get in a run. Ran an out and back along the beach from our resort. It's all public access here so you can go as far as your legs will take you. Beautiful white sand and no surf. Hardest part was dodging the bikers and motorcycles that use the hard-packed tidal sand to travel on the island. |

| | Struggling with upper hamstring and hip pain. This is not news. I've had some mild pain throughout the year, but I think I did something to aggravate it during my last run on the beach in Belize because it's much worse. Visited the chiro yesterday w/ no relief. I may be forced to visit a real doc and get an MRI. This can't be normal. | Add Comment |
| | After a couple weeks of rest I thought I would take a shot at a short easy run. Ran/limped to the gym, did some light weight training and then ended up walking home. I could feel a pain/throbbing in my upper hammie even while I was lifting. In hindsight, it was probably a bad idea to test it but I was growing restless. Scheduled to see my general doc on Wednesday but I'm sure he'll refer me to a specialist and we'll go from there. |
