Qualify for Boston Marathon. Personal: Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.
"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

| | AM: Easy. First run in over a week due to illness and a fishing trip. I thought my hammie would benefit more than it did. It's still tight but my PF alleviated some. Fall weather is definitely here. Broke out the gloves on a chilly morning in the 40's but it felt really nice once I warmed up. |

Picked Court up at his house and we drove to the finish line/shuttle bus pickup at Bronco Stadium. This race has become a staple of my fall running calendar. I really enjoy it. It's grown in popularity each year that I've run it. Weather was near perfect w/ temps in the 50's at the start w/ no wind and sunshine.
They finally got wise and went to a wave start which helped alleviate some of the congestion problems that arise when all of the runners attempt to vie for space on the Boise Greenbelt. Not unhappy w/ my time. Didn't run at all last week and I've really been eating poorly which has led to me to put on about 10 lbs in just a few weeks. Consequently, I knew that I'd have to temper my expectations and just run smooth and easy. I thought I could do something in the 42's but that turned out to be too ambitious. Went out too fast in the first mile (6:34) but after that I settled into a more comfortable pace at or near 7:05 and held it pretty much throughout. Court ran great and missed his sub 40 min goal by just a couple of seconds. This is probably my last race for 2011. |

| | Noon: Easy run on the Bethine Church River Trail. Weather is still perfect and the colors are unbelievable. Supposed to be a hard freeze next week so looks like the leaves will be gone soon. Jumped over a baby rattler sunning itself on the greenbelt. |

| | 630AM: Easy. Developing a new sore spot on my left forefoot just below my toes. All my aches and pains on the left side (PF, HHT, ankle, & forefoot). None of these are crippling in and of themselves but at this point they're really infringing upon my love of running. |

| | 10AM: Hill workout in Pocatello, ID. On the road for work. Ran up (3M) the hill near the hotel and back down. Been a long time since I did any hills and I was surprised that I was able to handle them reasonably well. The colder temps (low 30's) helped. |
