| Location: South Jordan,Ut,USA Member Since: Jan 11, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: 5 K Finish Running Accomplishments: I've been running for the past 25 years. I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then. I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons. I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35. I won Thrid Place in my age group.
Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon. They did great and I was glad to just finish. I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.
I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die. I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.
We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons. Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak. I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.
2010 Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group
Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group
South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group
Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group
Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010 Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group
March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.
Short-Term Running Goals: My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

This morning Duke and I went to Leslie's to jog. We went from her house to 40th West north to 90th South and then back. It was very cool this morning so I wore my warm stuff. I took my headband, gloves and arm warmers off on the way back. It was a good run. | Add Comment |
| | Duke and I drove to Leslie's to run this morning. I thought it was going to be cold so I wore my long lycra, t-shirt and gloves, ear band and arm warmers. I had to take them all off by the time we were out of Leslie's neighborhood and the whole time I was wishing I was in shorts and a t-shirt. We jogged on 40th west to 106th and then up to Daybreak Lake. We jogged around the whole lake and then back over to 106th down to 40th west and north to Leslie's neighborhood. Leslie held onto Duke until she biffed it just when we were getting to the Lake. Then her hands and knees were skinned up so I held Duke the rest of the way. I was a little more tired today than sometimes. It might be because we have lots of relatives visiting. Kent's sister, husband and son are here from Arizona are staying with us and also my daughter Bridget and her baby. We had almost our whole family over last night for dinner. I used my gift certificate to Tio's Mexican restaurant and got $127.00 of food. Now I have $83 left to use. Today we had everyone over again to celebrate Bridget's Birthday. It's hard to believe that my baby is now 24 years old and pregnant with her second baby. It's been a good day but I am tired. | Comments(1) |
| | I did my leg weight exercises along with stomach exercises and 75 mens pushups. | Comments(2) |
| | I had to work at 6 am so I ran at 5am with Duke. We ran to redwood road and then down redwood to 106th and back. It was very cool and I wore my warm stuff. After work Leslie and I were going to ride our bikes but I had to drive to Ogden to pick up Sicily(my granddaughter) because my daughter and her husband were too sick to take care of her. She is such a cute girl(15 months old) and we are really having a fun time with her. | Add Comment |
| | I'm still tending Sicily so I won't have a chance to exercise today. Leslie tended her while I was at work and brought her to school for lunch. Bridget and Glenn are still sick so I will keep Sicily one more day. She is such a cutie and we all love her to death. | Comments(1) |
| | I wasn't able to exercise at all today. I tended my granddaughter over night and for most of the day today. She started getting sick last night and woke up quite a bit in the night. Today she wanted me to hold her most of the day. She is so sweet and cute and I felt so bad for her being so sick. My daughter and her husband were feeling some better today so I took Sicily back this afternoon. | Add Comment |

I ran 3 miles this morning with Duke. I didn't have to be to work until 6:30. Work was as busy as usual. After work I took a 15 minute nap and then went to pick up a couple of grandkids. My second oldest daughter and her husband now have the swine flu and are very sick. I will tend her baby until bedtime. I can't believe how fast this flu is sweeping through the family. We all got together last Saturday and the only one that was sick stayed home. Since then about 80% of the family has gotten the flu. Some worse than others. So far I haven't gotten it but I've tended grandkids that have. | Comments(2) |
| | I went to my Triathlon class today but I only stayed for the swim because I needed to go pick up my daughters baby. She is still feeling very sick and her husband had to work this morning. We swam for almost an hour and I didn't even have to lay on the side of the pool exhausted. I won't get too much done today since I'll be tending grandkids, but I'm glad I can help my daughter. Leslie didn't come to the class with me because she is still not feeling up to par. | Add Comment |
| | After tending numerous grandkids whose parents had the flu it finally caught up with me. I won't be exercising today and probably not tomorrow. | Comments(1) |
| | I feel much better today. Not well enough to exercise but I did take Duke across the street on a walk. | Comments(1) |
| | I went to work today and felt quite tired so I decided not to exercise today. Hopefully tomorrow I will start exercising again. | Comments(1) |
| | I finally felt good enough to exercise so I took Duke running this morning and we went 3 miles. I couldn't meet the BBK's because I had to be to work at 6am. | Comments(1) |
| | Duke and I ran again this morning before work. We ran our usual 3 miles course down Redwood to 106th and back. | Comments(1) |
| | Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class this morning. When we got to the class the teacher wasn't there but one of the girls in our class taught us some swimming techniques. She really helped me with my stroke and also taught us the flip turn. We swam for an hour and 15 minutes and then Leslie came to my house where we got Duke and went on a 4 mile run around the block. Leslie took Duke and beat me by several minutes. I did my run in 35 minutes and was very tired. | Add Comment |
| | After work today I did my leg weight and stomach exercises along with 70 men's pushups. After dinner Leslie and I rode our bikes. We rode our usual course down Redwood to Crystal Cove and then past Wyngate and down to 13th west, back to Parkway Palisades and then down to the parkway trail to the end and then turn around and come back. It was quite windy and cool and we got sprinkled on a few times. I think our biking days will come to an end soon until spring. | Add Comment |

I met the BBK's at the church down the street for the Early miles. I'm so glad that started coming early again so I can run before work. Duke and I started out at the front. I had a very good visit with Rachel. When we got back to the church the rest of the group went down another street because we still had 10 minutes before the others came. I went back to my car to take off my warm stuff and then I ran down the street and back. We met the others and then ran down 13th West to tithing hill. We ran down the hill to the parkway trail and then through the neighborhood in back of the trail. When we got to the roller coaster hill I had to turn around and head back so I could get to work on time. I had Pack meeting after work so Leslie and I decided to swim tomorrow. | Add Comment |
| | After work and a short rest I did my arm weight exercises. Then I cleaned and went to the store and then met Leslie at Gene Fullmer fitness center to swim. We swam for about an hour. I think I almost like swimming. It is getting a lot easier. | Comments(1) |

After work on Friday Kent and I drove to Idaho to visit our daugher Jenny and her family. We brought some apples to them and brought back some potatoes. Jenny's husbands family doesn't farm potatoes any more but their neighbors do. This morning Jenny, Leslie and I ran 5 miles. Jenny lives on a dirt road that is very uneven, so we walked down her road until we got to the paved road. It was very dark and we thought it would be cold so I had long pants and all my warm stuff. By the time I got to the paved road I had to take off all my warm stuff and I wished I had a tank top and shorts on. We had a nice run, but Jenny's dog kept running too close to us and almost tripped us a few times. It was really nice to visit with Jenny and spend time with all the grandkids. Kent had fun seeing all their equipment and watching them harvest their sugar beets. | Add Comment |
| | After work I did my leg weight, stomach exercises and 70 mens pushups. After dinner Leslie and I went to go bike riding and my bike tire had a leak so we didn't go. | Add Comment |
| | Met the BBK's at Bingham for the early miles. We ran around the neighborhoods and I visited with Michelle M. When we regrouped we ran down to Rustic Roads. Leslie called me as we were taking off to tell me she was on her way. When we got to Rustic Roads we started up the hill and after I got part way up I thought I saw Leslie coming so I went back to meet her. It was actually Rachel so I ran up the hill and when I was almost to the top the group turned left so i went back down to find Leslie. I found her towards the bottom so we decided to run back down and run along 2200 to see if the group came down. We ran down 2200 to the equestrian park and didn't see the group so we ran back towards Bingham. It was getting very cold, windy and snowy. We ran back to the car and since I had to be to work at 7 we went home. After dinner Leslie and I swam at Gene Fullmer fitness. We swam for almost an hour. | Comments(1) |

I met the BBK's at Riverfront Park for the early miles. We ran the Parkway Palisades loop and then went back to pick up the rest of the group. We ran to Parkway Palisades and then up to 1300 West. We ran up 1300 West to 105th south and then east to the South Jordan Cemetary. At the cemetary we did a relay race but Debbie, Leslie and I just ran around the cemetary. I had to leave at 6:15 to go to work. It was a good run and I had fun. | Add Comment |
| | Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class this morning. Our teacher wasn't there so we swam for 45 minutes and then rode the spinning bikes for 40 minutes. I was going to run when I got home but I was tired and changed my mind. Tonight I have half my grandkids and kids coming for dinner and a Halloween Party. | Comments(1) |
