| Location: South Jordan,Ut,USA Member Since: Jan 11, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: 5 K Finish Running Accomplishments: I've been running for the past 25 years. I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then. I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons. I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35. I won Thrid Place in my age group.
Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon. They did great and I was glad to just finish. I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.
I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die. I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.
We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons. Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak. I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.
2010 Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group
Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group
South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group
Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group
Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010 Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group
March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.
Short-Term Running Goals: My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

| | I just started on this running blog because all the runners in our group are always talking about it. I'm really not a blogger, but I will try. | Add Comment |
| | Duke and I got to running group at 5:15. Peggy, Mike, Julie and several others were there early for the extra miles. Duke wanted to go fast, so we were at the head of the pack. We did a two mile loop and then jogged back to meet the rest of the group. There were lots of people there(at least 15). I was tired by then so I was in the middle of the pack. I had to leave for work so I jogged back to my car when everyone else went to head for Tithing Hill. | Add Comment |
| | Leslie, Chrissy, Duke and I ran 8 miles. Leslie ran ahead with Duke and Christine stayed with me. Her knee has been hurting her and she wanted to take it easy. She turned for home when she got to 2200 because she had to be home at 8. Leslie and Duke beat me by about 2 minutes. It was a good run and I wasn't dead. | Comments(1) |
| | Leslie Duke and I ran 9 easy miles this morning. Chrissy couldn't come because Dan had to work and we didn't leave until 7 am. Leslie took Duke and got him to go slow, so I was able to keep up with them. I was very tired at the end, but not dead. We ran the course down 13th west past the S curve and under Bangerter. If we're not too dead tonight we might swim laps. We are buying subway for lunch and most of the grandkids are coming over to eat and play games. It is sure nice to have the day off. | Add Comment |
| | Today was the coldest day so far at running group. We must all like the cold because there were about 20 people there today. I didn't go until 5:45 because I was tired from running 9 miles on Monday and then swimming 18 laps at night. I also woke up at 2am and stayed awake for two hours. Duke and I kept up pretty good. It was great that Michelle's husband Jared came to running group. Since I didn't have to leave early and go to work I got to visit with quite a few people. | Add Comment |
| | Today I did my leg weight and stomach exercises and then Leslie and I swam. Leslie is a muc better swimmer than I am. She went 21 laps all front crawl, I only went 19 laps and 3/4ths of them were back crawl. | Add Comment |
| | I met our BBK runers at 5:15. It wasn't as cold today. I was able to visit with Michelle today and I really enjoyed it. I don't get to visit much with her anymore. I ran 3 miles and then I had to leave because I had to be to work at 6 am. After work I took a short nap and then did my arm weight exercises. | Comments(3) |
| | Didn't exercise today, Friday is my day off. After work I took a very short nap and then went to Cub Scouts. Friday night Kent and I went to dinner at a little Chinese Restaurant. It was good. | Add Comment |
| | Today instead of running a long run we (Leslie, Chrissy and I) went to a Triathlon class at Marv Jensen's. Boy was it a killer. We swam for about an hour, then we biked and then we alternated between running on the treadmill and the gym. We all felt dead afterwards. Then after we came home and showered, we went to a baby shower for Ralphie.(My second oldest daughters whose baby is due in February) | Comments(2) |
| | Monday I did my leg weight and stomach exercises and Leslie and I went swimming. I swam 20 lengths and did half front stroke. Towards the end I started getting cramps in my leg and feet. Leslie swam 32 lengths. She can sure swim a lot better than me. | Add Comment |
| | Duke and I met the BBK's at Peggy's for the early run. Mike, Peggy, Walter, Julie and Cheris were there. It was cold but it was a good run. I had to leave before the main run because I had to be to work at 6. Duke really wanted to stay and run more. | Add Comment |
| | Did my arm weight exercises after work. Leslie and I were going to swim but she ended up staying late at work. | Add Comment |
| | Met the group at the Parkway on 9800. It wasn't very cold this morning. The Parkway trail wasn't slippery at all. Duke and I led the group and it was a fun run. I had to leave after the first 1/2 hour because I had to be to work early. I talked to Kimberly and I kept calling her Brittany. For some reason I thought her name was Brittany. She is going to give my daugher the directions to the Ensign Single Adult Ward for 30-40 year olds. | Add Comment |
| | My daughter Jenny came to visit with her husband and 5 kids. We (Leslie, Chrissy, Jenny, Duke and I) went running at 6:30. We were going to run 8-10 miles but Chrissy and Jenny both had colds and Leslie's knee was hurting her. We ran our 6 mile course to the South County Pool. On the way there the wind was blowing and felt very chilly on the way back the wind was at our back and I was warm enough that I had to take off my warm stuff. By the time we got home I was very tired and glad we only went 6. Next week I hope to get more miles in. | Add Comment |
