I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then. I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons. I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35. I won Thrid Place in my age group.
Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon. They did great and I was glad to just finish. I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.
I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die. I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.
We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons. Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak. I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.
2010 Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group
Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group
South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group
Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group
Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010 Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group
March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.
Short-Term Running Goals: My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's
2010
Riverton 1/2 Marathon 3rd in age

| | Met the BBK's at SJ Library. We had a big group there. Dean was in charge and took us on a nice run through several neighborhoods. Leslie and went to Marv Jenson's to swim but when we got to the pool there was a kids swim team there. | Add Comment |
| | Leslie and I rode out bikes. Boy was it cold. I had two pair of gloves on and my hands still froze. We only rode for 30 minutes. We were going to swim later but we both got lazy. | Add Comment |
| | Met the BBK's at the parkway trail on 98th. Boy was it cold. There were only 4 of us for the early miles, me Dean, Kris and Walter. We power walked up the hill to 98th and then ran to 10th west and all the way to 106th and then down 106th past Mulligans to the parkway trail and back. I had to keep blowing on my hands to unthaw them. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. | Comments(1) |
| | Leslie was sick so I went to our Triathlon class alone. Since I donated blood the night before I decided to just do the swim part. I was very tired during the swim but I took it very easy. Then I came home and cleaned and then went to the Oquirh Mountain Temple. Boy was it crowded. I was suppose to be on the 11am session but it didn't start until at least 11:30. I was meeting my sister at 1pm at the Olive Garden in South Jordan and by the time I got there it was 1:30 and she already had her food. | Comments(1) |
| | I used the stationary bike after work and biked for 30 minutes. After dinner I went to Marv's and swam for 40 minutes. I went by myself because Leslie was still not up to par. | Comments(1) |
| | Met the BBK's at Bingham for the early miles. It was snowy and freezing cold. There were only 4 of us there, me, Michelle M, Cheris and Lisa. We jogged around through the neighborhood across from the school and out to Redwood. Redwood was even more slippery so we turned around and jogged back through the neighborhood, back to Bingham through their parking lot, out to 2200 to Bonanza and then turned around and came back. My hands were frozen even though I had two pair of gloves on and I decided that it was too wet and slippery so I left after the early miles. Mike and Nancy R were the only ones that came for the later miles. | Comments(1) |
| | I had a million things going on so I didn't do any exercise at all. | Add Comment |
| | I had to work at 6am and when I got up at 5:15 the temperature was 7 degrees and the wind was blowing so I decided to jog after work instead. After work it was 28 degrees so I took Duke and ran from my house to Redwood and then north to 106th and back. The side of the road was clear and I didn't get cold at all. Then I came home and did my arm weight exercises. | Add Comment |
| | Saturday morning I took Duke and ran up to Leslie's. We didn't leave until about 7:20 am. Leslie went with Christine and family to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert last night and didn't get home until almost midnight so she wanted to sleep in. I ran down redwood road to 106th and then east on 106th to 40th west. When I got to 40th west I called Leslie and told her I would be there in a few minutes. I had to run slow along 40th west because it was a little wet and slippery. When I got to Leslie's street I had to walk because it was very wet and slippery. Leslie didn't feel like jogging so she gave me a ride home and then came to our ward Christmas party. It was a breakfast and was very good but I tried not to eat very much because I was taking my daughter Christine to Olive Garden for her Birthday. At Olive Garden I tried not to eat too much because I was going with Leslie Saturday night to Madelines for her company Christmas party. Friday night I went to Texas Roadhouse for my husbands company Christmas party. With all this eating I should be jogging 10 miles a day. | Add Comment |
| | I didn't do any exercise at all today. I had to be to work at 6am. After work I went straight to my sister's house for our sister's lunch. After that I went visiting teaching and then made my husband dinner. I was so tired by then I just relaxed the rest of the night. | Add Comment |
| | I met the BBK's at the church on 124th off 13th West for the early miles. It wasn't as cold as last week and most of the snow was melted. We ran down the hill to the parkway trail and started down the trail. At little way down the trail they were doing work so we turned around and got off the trail in the neighborhood and jogged back to the church and out to 13th west. I was feeling even more tire than usual probably because I donated blood 2 weeks ago. After the early miles we met the group and ran down tithing hill to the trail again and then through the parking lot to the other subdivision and up towards the roller coaster hills. Aaron, Jeff and I had to leave early so we turned around after the first hill and headed back. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight exercises along with stomach exercises and 70 mens pushups. | Add Comment |
| | Wednesday I rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes. I was too busy and lazy to swim so I guess Saturday will be my only swim day. | Add Comment |
| | Met the BBK's at the church off 106th and 40th west for the early miles. Mike, Cheris, Michelle and I were the only ones there for the early miles. I had a nice visit with them but was tired by the time we went the 3 miles. When the rest of the group came we ran south on 40th west. We were doing a 3 mile out and back but I could only do 1 1/2. I was hoping to hit the turn around before the big hill since I was already tired but no such luck. The turn around was at the bottom of the hill almost to 114th. I turned around and headed back up the big hill. I was very tired but made it to the top without walking. I was sure glad to have Duke pulling me along. After work I did my arm weight exercises. | Comments(1) |

Met the BBK's at Parkway Palisades for the early miles. My daughter Jenny and her husband and 5 kids are here visiting for Christmas so she came with me. We ran up past the cemetary to 106th south and then down to13th west. On 13th west we ran back to Parkway Palisades and then down to the park. The second half hour we did the two mile loop and then Jenny and I had to leave so I could be to work at 7. We had our entire family except for Bridget, Glenn and Sicily at our family Christmas party Monday night. We had a very nice time but it was quite noisy and crazy with that many people. I was glad Jenny could run with me. I used to run with her all the time before she moved to Idaho. | Add Comment |
| | I didn't go to the early miles but Leslie and I went to Cheris's house at 7am for the main workout. It was very cold and a little slippery. I was surprised that so many people came. My daughter Jenny decided it was too cold for her so she stayed at my house and used the stationary bike. We ran all around the subdivisions came out on 114th and then back again. Leslie and had to head back early because she invited her sisters and kids over for Crepes at 8:30 and we had to get back to make them. It was a nice run and good to see everyone especially Rachel who hasn't been able to come lately. | Add Comment |
| | We had a very nice Christmas visiting with family, opening presents and eating tons. We went to see "Blindside" and really enjoyed it. We are truely blessed. | Add Comment |
| | I went running with Leslie and Duke. It was quite cold but we warmed up after about a mile. Leslie held Duke. Boy running without Duke really gets me tired. I'm probably more tired because I donated blood two weeks ago. I didn't used to get so tired after donating blood, but I guess I must be getting old. We did our 8 mile course down 13th west past the S curve and under Bangerter and then back. I was very glad to be finished. Coming down my rode on 114th the wind was blowing in our faces and my nose and face got very cold. I'm glad we didn't run the whole way that direction. We saw a group of BBK's coming back along 13th west and said Hi. | Add Comment |

I did my leg weight exercises along with my stomach exercises and 70 men's pushups. Then I cleaned the house and went to the store. After dinner Leslie and I swam. I did 20 laps front crawl. | Comments(2) |
| | Met the BBK's at Bingham. We ran around the subdivision and then down 2200 to 9800 S and then west to 2700 and then south to 104th. When we got to 104th I was so tired I told everyone goodbye and headed down 104th back to Bingham. After breakfast and a short rest I rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes and called it a day. | Add Comment |
| | I did my arm weight exercises. Leslie and I were going to swim but since it was cold and snowy we changed our minds and will swim Friday. | Add Comment |
| | Met the BBK's for early miles. It was very snowy so Leslie, Duke and I went very slow. We ran down 40th west towards the temple. Cheris, Mike, Lisa and a couple others kept going. Michelle, Eric, Leslie and I turned around before the hill and headed back. When we got back the others were there. Leslie and I needed to be places so we both left. We never did see Mike and his group coming back so the others took off without them. | Add Comment |
