Aaron and I both woke up this morning with an unpleasant stomach ache. I wanted to stay in bed or just puke and get the pain over with but it was not happening. I had my MRI appointment to get to so I took a shower and left Aaron to watch the kids. The MRI was a unique experience. A few needles in the hip to get the contrast agent into the hip capsule and then 30-40 minutes in a tube with intermittent loud noises. If it were quieter I could have slept but it was loud and cold. The MRI tech, Jeremy gave me headphones with 80s music coming through so at least that helped pass the time a little easier. After the procedure I was still feeling sick to my stomach and becoming very hungry so I ate a granola bar in my car. My blood sugar must have been really low and I was probably dehydrated too. My stomach was not ready for food and I pulled over two separate times feeling like I was going to puke. It reminded me of being pregnant...I often had to pull over because driving made me lose my lunch. This time it was not coming easily though. I'd pull over, sit there for a bit and the puke sensation would go away. Finally the third time I pulled over I felt hot and sweaty all over and could start to feel my brain shutting down like I was about to black out. I quickly made a right turn off the busy street onto a side street, pulled over, jumped out of the car, and stumbled to the grass on the side of the curb when everything went black. Not sure how long I was out but it felt like hours (probably only a minute or so). I was having wild dreams and it was really hard to wake back up. Finally when I came to, I wasn't sure where I was for a minute and realized I had finally puked as there was my dinner from last night and the granola bar in the grass next to me. I must have looked like a drunk bum lying there in the grass. Not my finest moment in life. At least no one had stolen my car. As I was waking up a man waked by looking very strangely at me and asked me if I needed a doctor. Not wanting him to call an ambulance I said no, I would be okay in a few minutes. A little more puking and cleaning up afterwards (thank goodness for baby wipes in the car at all times), and I was finally feeling slightly better. I called Aaron not sure if I wanted him to come pick me up or if I had the stamina to drive the 30 minutes home. After a few more minutes and a prayer, I decided to start driving again. I felt very tired and light-headed but talked to Aaron most of the way home which helped keep me alert. A couple of hours of sleep and finally some food and liquid and I'm feeling a little bit better but now Breanne puked too. Great. I hope it doesn't travel through the whole house. My five year old nephew is staying with us this week. We're supposed to be having fun, not puking. The Doctor's report on the MRI will come back tomorrow and I'm going in for an appointment to see my Dr. to review the images tomorrow afternoon as well. |
