Today's shout-out goes to the legendary Reed Smoot, Apostle in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and (simultaneously) an United States senator from Utah, and the architect of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff of 1930 which raised import duties, stifled international trade, and plunged the United States and the world further into the Great Depression. Another interesting fact... he was the fery first person to register for classes at Brigham Young University.
