Well that felt good. First "hard" workout in a while.

1 mile warm-up

9.35 miles in 60 minutes

.65 cool down

I haven't done anything faster than 7:30 pace really for quite a while, so I was being conservative. I was happily surprised at how relatively easy it seemed. Maybe the day off yesterday helped..

Allie - if you like the picture you should go to The Onion (theonion.com) and type New York Marathon into the search box... it will take you to an article entitled "New York Marathon Winner Tests Positive For Performance Enhancing Horse".

I was weeping with laughter.

hey Rob,

do you generally ease up a little bit in the winters because of the weather? I know there were a lot of early mornings that never look fun to run in back in Utah. I am trying to stay positive and motivated this winter so I can continue to improve for the Rome.If anything, I will be doing more and more...

Colby, I would say that just as you need to build recovery days and rest days into your weekly schedule, you also need to incluid recovery months into your annual schedule. For me, late fall and early winter works best.

If I still lived in Florida, where I grew up, I'd be in my most intense part of the year now since their prime racing season is in the winter. Italy has that Meditterranean climate similar to Southern California right? So I would guess that the winter months are the best to train hard.

I am not exactly sure, we are still in the northern part of italy. Just about half an hour inland from Venice. From what I hear it will snow, but it isn't like a Utah winter. We'll see.
