10.25 mile treadmill run. Kept it at about 7:20 pace most of the way. That's the type of run I've been avoiding lately - the medium long, medium tempo run that I get so much out of. Time and wimpiness have been conspiring against me.

I'm going to have to come to terms with the 4:30 to 5:00 am runs that I hate so much. It's kind of a trade-off between good health and fast race times. Or I could get a job closer to home or one that I don't have to be at at 7 am.

Two Olympic thoughts. Why isn't cross country running an Olympic sport? Why is there no running version of the biathalon?

seriously, I understand completely the mindset on waking up. Its been difficult for me also, but it sure is fun when its 6:30 am and you have already kicked butt for the day. Again, I empathize here. I think we are not normal at all to wake up at 4:15am to go run at 5am. Seriously, who does this ;)! #makeithappen...

Great thoughts Spencer. I'll ponder them when my alarm goes off tomorrow morning.

I'd be in favor of both events. Plus a 50 mile ultra.

Yes, 4:30 runs stink. Character building.

Thanks for not saying character revealing Jon.

Hopefully we wake up at the same time and both laugh as we say "who does this?!":) good times for the best to come. My character is shot. I'm gonna run on some other life prinicple.

There is an international competition for a running biathlon (world meets included) just not at the Olympics. My buddy Pat traveled to Russia a few years ago to compete in the World championships for the USA team.

Team XC should be added back to the summer games, like it used to be. Run it on the first day of the games, then move both marathons to the very end (instead of just the mens).

Also, short track speedskating. I don't get it... move it to the big track, and put 12 skaters on the line at once. Now THAT'S a race!
