AM: At cross country practice...

3.25 mile warm-up then 6 X 1/4 mile on the region xc course at Cottonwood Complex. We ran these along the fence line on the west side of the park which has a long, gradual downhill. The idea was to give the kids a little boost in working on some faster than race pace turnover.

My splits were 82, 80, 77, 76, 71, 68. Lots of fun. It's been years since I did a workout like this.

That's right, 68 on the last one!

Nice to have Kramer join us today. Abby did the workout with the girls and was a real trooper.

PM: Gym workout while Abby was swimming. 4 miles of eliptickling and 1.25 miles on the stair master on 14. Sweatfest!

I have to get in on this comment string...Hemingway, Steinbeck, Stegner.

Give me two... one along the lines of Elite Minds and one political/historical.

OK Christie, I have three just in case you've read one…

"The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America" by George Packer.

"Beyond the Hundredth Meridian" by Wallace Stegner

"Iron War" by Matt Fitzgerald

The first one just won the Pulitzer for the best non-fiction of 2013. It's basically a history of the major changes in this country over the last 40 years or so.

Stegner's book is about John Wesley Powell.

Iron War is awesome! Especially for a triathlete. It's about Dave Scott and Mark Allen's epic battle in 1989. You may have read it though?

Beyond the Hundredth Meridian and Iron War were both great!
