I had some success in high school and college. Winner 1985 Rod Dixon Run 

Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

Personal:

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

So we have a new race series in Salt Lake in the spring time. 5k, 10k, 15k each one two weeks apart up and down City Creek Canyon. I'll be out of town for the next 2 races so this one will be it foir this year. But it was a beautiful morning and I had a great time.

So today's 5k was 1.55 miles up and 1.55 miles down. My watch didn't start at the start so I only got the last 2.62 miles of the race. First mile was 7:51, second mile was 5:57, last .62 was 3:43. I was excited to see that 5:57!

I won the 55-59 age group by about 7 minutes which is no fun. I miss competing against my old friends who have either given up competition or moved on to something else (or died?). So I guess I win by attrition.

AM: 6.5 miles up Grandeur Peak. Nice to be able to hit the trails on a weekday morning when it's not nearly as crowded. Lots of very fit young women running up the mountain today that I couldn't hang with. Very few men. I think the bros mostly mountain bike these days.
