Sorry to hear about the injury - hopefully a surgical solution will clean up the meniscus and get you back on the roads in a relatively short time.

Sorry Rob. Hope they find an easy solution.

What are the implications of complex meniscus tear?
From Rob Murphy on Thu, Apr 11, 2019 at 06:34:18 from 67.177.30.39
It's hard to say what the long term implications will be Jon, but they're mostly bad.

Regular cortisone injections are not ideal and have their own set of drawbacks and surgery is uncertain as well. Either way, serious training and racing is in doubt, especially on trails.

I'm sorry to hear that, Rob. I hope you can get it as functional as possible and enjoy physical activity of some sort.

Sorry about the news on the knee, I do hope that there is path forward to repair it.

Rob, curious do you know what caused it? Specific event? Symptoms? Get well.

Bob - the doctor said it's probably a 50-50 thing. Part long-term degeneration/wear and tear combined with a wrenching event running down Rattlesnake Gulch in November.

I have an appointment with Dr. Stephen Aoki on April 24th. From what I hear, he's about the best sports medicine orthopedic surgeon in Utah. I'm hopeful.

Wishing you the best, Rob. I cannot recall what Riley Cook's knee issue was or the surgery he had but he is running better than he ever has (post college and since joining the blog). Everyone is different and different issues mean different things, but I hope you have a option that works for you.
