Are you a wrestling coach? Or just attending to support the kids?

Andy is on the wrestling team.

That's awesome. I hadn't hear that. What weight class is he?

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Jan 24, 2021 at 14:42:39 from 67.177.30.39

152.He's actually wrestling varsity now as a 9th grader and getting his butt kicked. He was doing great as JV. The kid ahead of him at 152 became academically ineligible.

That's one of the toughest weight classes. Experience is tough but will do him well as he gets older. Hope he enjoys it.

Did you wrestle in high school?

From Jon on Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 07:28:42 from 104.129.205.25

I did my junior year only, cause I had lots of friends on the team. I was not good- won about 50% of matches for JV/exhibition. It was hard but I enjoyed it- my mom hated it but supported me cause she figured it was good to really struggle at something. There's nothing quite like being out there on the mat, 1v1, nowhere to hide.

Interesting fact- I was almost my full height of 5'9" but wrestled 119 lbs without having to cut weight. I was super skinny.

My best friend and college roommate was also a college wrestler, made it to the national championship tournament several times (I think he was top 8 once?). So I definitely was around wrestling and have nothing but respect for the toughness of those guys. I think it's awesome Andy is doing it.
