Six easy. Some with Abby and Andy. So really easy.

So my wife was in the Sugar House state liquor store today buying some wine (strictly for cooking) and they had a trainee cashier with a sign that said "we ID everyone". There was an 82 year-old man in front of her who had an expired drivers license so they wouldn't let him buy his 2 bottles of beer. The poor guy thought they were joking but walked away without his beer. Pathetic. #onlyinutah

I totally called that picture before I even clicked on it. Makes me wish I could actually go skiing every now and then.

I'm sure the old guy was thinking "I should have just gone skiing" as he trudged out to his car. No ID needed.

It's the government sponsored humiliation of an 82 year old man that pisses me off.

I do agree that it would sort of be annoying at times living here if it wasn't for the mountains and skiing.

But if he was a true Utahn, wouldn't he have a 10 year supply of beer in his basement?

Aren't you supposed to have your license on you while driving?

From Rob Murphy on Tue, Jan 13, 2015 at 20:30:58 from 24.10.247.181

He had a drivers license bust it had expired a couple weeks ago and was, therefore, not valid for the purchase of 2 beers.

Ha! Well then he should have chosen the other line. I can't remember the last time I got asked for ID at that store :(

That actually adds a compelling twist to this saga. For a license to be expired, it had to have been valid at some point. And since birthdays don't change, I would think an expired license would be a perfectly suitable means of proving age.

Too funny/sad!!! I hope somebody in line bought a couple extra beers for the poor fellow. The good news is that these laws protect us from the evils of alcohol! :) I'm sure there would be drunk 82-year-olds everywhere without them!
