I had some success in high school and college. Winner 1985 Rod Dixon Run 

Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

am: 100 laps in the pool in 58 minutes.

More cross training madness this afternoon. May hop on the treadmill for a few minutes?

pm: Ran one mile in about 9 minutes. No pain, but some stiffness and weakness - a good sign I guess.

3 miles on the elliptical in 23 minutes.

Then another half mile at about 7 mph.

Thanks Teena Marie. I noticed you are cranking out the cross training miles as well.

I need to stop the little mile runs. They accomplish little and set your recovery back. I've made a vow to avoid running for 14 days.

You won't believe this, but 4 years ago I was signed up for the Boston Marathon, in great shape, and screwed up my knee bad about 4 weeks before the race. All I could to was swim. On the Monday of the race I went to the gym and swam for two hours and fort-five minutes (my goal time for Boston). I did something like 300 laps.

My wife threatened to have me institutionalized.

My hubby has threatened to have me locked up on several occasions as well!!! He just hasn't had the heart to do it yet (we have been best friends since we were 12). =)

What is it about the Boston Marathon? I was on track for my best race ever until 3 weeks prior guntime. I wasn't crazy enough to swim to my sub 3:30 goal though!

14 days no-running? Dang, I thought I was being disciplined by vowing to 7.

I think people get hyper about Boston and make poor training decisions.
