Seven miles in the am.

Both my boys and girls teams won the 5A Region III championships yesterday at Cottonwood Complex. Alta also had the individual winner in each race. My girls barely edged Jordan High School 31-32 . My boys won much more easily 30 - 68 over second place Copper Hills High School. My fabulous freshman, Whitney Paskins, cruised to an easy win while one of my sophomore boys, Kramer Morton, won the boys race in 16:08.My top 5 scoring girls averaged 19:45 and my top 5 boys averaged 16:56. Not bad.

Wierd how much more satisfaction I take in that than in my own running!

Your team did great! Must be the coaching :) I'm going to try to get off work a little early for the State Meet to come watch.

Thanks everyone.

Andrea - we have about 12 days until state. Maybe I can get you to join my girls for a run in between?

Congrats on the 7-mile run! Oh, and the Region wins too.

Sophomore throwing down a 16:08 - nice. And in the snow to boot? Or did that let up by race time?

From Rob Murphy on Fri, Oct 07, 2011 at 17:40:20 from 205.127.249.203

Thanks Doug - yeah, Kramer is going to be a good one. The snow did let up and it was just cold and blustery at race time. Perfect XC weather!

Wow, good job.

What an accomplishment for them and you! Those kids are so lucky to have you for a coach!

I wish I could go back in time to HS and tell myself a thing or two... Back then I remember thinking that being a good runner was mostly about talent. Now I realize that talent is only part of the equation... But a huge part of how successful you are is HOW MUCH you run. I didn't even run in the off season.
