AM: Nice 8 mile run in about an hour.

I've been tracking my buddy Bret throughout this morning in the NY Marathon. bret.fastrunningblog.com. He's trying to break 3 hours for the first time at age 45. This is agonizing! He's right on pace at 22 miles but slowing just a wee bit. 6:56 FOR MILE 22! He was 1:29:10 at the half. I'm stressing over this more than my own races!

Update - Bret has to run a 19:54 for the last 5k. I think he's going to run 3:01. I HOPE I HAVE TO EAT THESE WORDS !

Rob - thanks for posting all of that :)

I was on course...until I wasn't...full race report is posted on my blog. I really thought I had it at mile 18 and even had a fleeting hope of getting it back at 21, but it didn't happen. Happy about how I went about it, at least for most of the race. I think I let myself get anaerobic around 19 without realizing it until much later - the marathon is just not very forgiving for stuff like that.
