I had a long hard day and practice ran longer than I had hoped.  I got home and was tired but pushed out the door anyway.  I ran a loop up through Cedar Hills to the mouth of American Fork canyon and came back via the Lone Peak Highway and the Temple.  I had a good run up for the first 5 miles averaging under 7:30 pace, and a better run back into the wind with every mile under 6:25 pace and the last one in 5:50.  It was the best run I have had all year for the quality and speed.  I felt very good and was happy with how well I ran.  Good start to the week for me. 1:14:58 (6:49 average).

Nice run in the headwind. Just think what you'll be able to run when your not tired and more focus. I hope your days get easier, but you've changed your life a bit and that does take adjustment living in a new place, and coaching in a new school

Are you running Ogden?

From James on Tue, Apr 22, 2008 at 11:03:08

Kory,

I am not running Ogden. My training got set back with the two months of being sick. If I had some long runs under my belt I know I could run better than last year but that is not a priority to me right now. The main reason I am not doing Ogden is because it is the same day as State Track. I have tried to justify doing the half day but I don't know if I can yet?

Sounds like you had a great run. Thanks for the commando points. I like the running icon of Sasha you have. My son has played some of his basketball games at Oquirrah middle school. Hope you can get that sub 2:30 marathon goal this year. Wow - takes me that long to run the 1/2, was weird finishing the Salt Lake half at the same time as the marathon winner with all the cheering, although technically Im claiming I beat him by 0.13 seconds as we started and finished in the same location!

From James on Tue, Apr 22, 2008 at 13:34:27

Michael,

Thanks for the comment. I will be under 2:30 this year unless something drastic happens.

Did you make it on TV being that close to the winner.

From Michael on Tue, Apr 22, 2008 at 17:12:29

Yeah we watched the news on the different channels and there I was running next him in the half marathon lane on right while he finished in marathon lane on left. I couldnt have timed it any better finishing at the same time

Glad you are feeling better and had a great run. Take your vitamins now and stay healthy!

You should come run Ogden with me, we'll start a "Undertrained and underprepared" team :)

From James on Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 15:11:27

I would like to run Ogden if I figure I can squeeze it in during State Track. I am always under trained and unprepared, but that doesn't mean I am slow.:)

From Jon on Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 15:38:13

Michelle, I'll join you on that team! Heck, I might be running the race with you!

From MichelleL on Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 15:43:22

Don't get touchy!-- no one called you slow :)

From Lybi on Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 15:49:14

Well I will...You're SLOW! At least when it comes to that hand slapping game. You run dang fast.

From James on Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 22:33:17

Lybi,

I was trying to be nice with the hand slapping game, it was your Birthday after all.

Michelle,

I am slow, but not that slow.
