AM: 10 miles at the track.  4:00minute repeats at effort.  Then a good cool down with some fun people.

PM: 7.3 miles, with a workout.  10x400 with ascending rests starting at 10 seconds.  Averaged a 1:12-1:13, but was really ready for it to be over at the end.  Super hot and humid... Florida is baaaack.

i’ve always meant to ask, what’s the reasoning behind the 2-a-day workouts? besides tempo in the morning and fast intervals in the afternoon i’ve never tried anything else. i thought that may have been what you were doing today, but i remember you doing the same workout in the am and pm before too.

Good question! It’s more an issue due to lack of training partners at this fitness level for these distances. If I split it up the running with runners who aren’t at my fitness level, I am running on tired legs in the PM. Since I’m tired, I then have to give more effort/be more uncomfortable during the intervals to stay with the group or in the front, which is the goal anyway.

Any literature would emphatically say it’s a no-no, however. Then again, you have to work with what you’ve got. Trust me, I’d rather it be a singular workout with a group of guys much faster than me, but there is literally one other guy
