So I had a couple of extra bucks returned to me for a groupon deal that didn't pan out, so I used it on a local certified 5k.  I did not taper obviously, and kayaking didn't help, but I figured might as well use the speed while I've got it!

~The race~

I did at first shoot for a sub 15:15, but after mile 1 that was not in the cards as I was already tiring, no one was near me, and lapping the walkers is alway a nightmare when trying to go fast.  I shut it down and put myself on auto-pilot the rest of the way.  Contradictingly, I am excited to feel "disappointed" with a 5k in the 15's... I never thought I'd be at this level.

The good news?  For placing first, I received $50 to a local running store, a free year at the local gym good for any of the locations, and a beautiful stained glass piece of art.  For less than $10, I made out like a bandit!
