Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Dreamt I was the vice president to Barrack Obama, shadowed him all day then hung out with Michelle and their kids at night.  Fun.

Too much snow, so ran 6 miles on the treadmill.  This is my first run since the marathon.  I haven't felt sore for several days, but running has recalled some soreness.  I guess I just feel a little beat up still.  Ran one mile, then stretched, ran 5 more, then good stretching session at the end.  Nice to be back in the saddle, I am sad that my first run back had to be on the treadmill.  I truly hate it.

Pace was 8:00 after 1.25 miles of easier, felt fast enough for me.

weight: 122 (first time weighing in in 1.5 weeks, I'm glad the news isn't worse, it would have been higher, I am sure, but the treadmill makes me sweat)

Slept like a brick because I was so tired from not getting enough sleep the night before.

Another 6 inches of snow overnight, I drive through it to meet up with MacK, though I was late, from crawling down the mountain.

The roads were slick for running, which should be no surprise.  The effort felt harder than 8:33 pace, but that's what the ave pace was.  It was nice to run outside and with MacK.

Legs still feel sore.  Stretching after.  Some mild pain/bugging in left knee, not really while running, but I sometimes feel it when on stairs.

Finally felt somewhat back to normal.

Met Carl and MacK in SF.  Having a fast guy join puts some pressure on to run a decent pace, and my legs actually felt ok with it.  I am sore now afterward, but felt fine while running.

Those of you concerned about me running too much, relax :) I'm just doing 6 miles tomorrow.  Cake walk.

Something wrong with this picture?  Could it be running less than three miles, or is it the 8.5 hours of sleep?  Both, actually.

I thought I set my alarm and I didn't.  Dang.  Woke myself up at 6am feeling quite rested, then scrambled onto the treadmill to run as much as I could before I had to get ready for work.  Started slow and ramped up to 7:30.  Still only made it to 2.42 before 6:30.  Hopefully this at least got my metabolism going.
