Another try at doing hill sprints. I made sure that I had turned off the auto lap so that I could time the sprints. But I must be technically challenged because I think I hit the wrong button a few times. It was a beautiful night for a run and even though my legs felt tired and sore, I think due to insufficient stretching, I felt pretty good for most of the run. I ran up the parkway and it must be young love night on the parkway. There were quiet a few young couples holding hands or necking on the park benches. A few of them looked way to young and I almost yelled at them to go home and play with their barbies and GI Joes. Is it just me or I young people in a big hurry to grow up. Any way I digress... I turned around at the three mile mark and then I wasn't quite to the 4 mile mark when I started my hill sprints. Like I said I think I hit the wrong buttons a few times, but here are what I think my times were on the sprint.

1 - 26.25 sec - 7:55 this the distance of the sprints I did last week... obviously to long

2 - 17:83 sec - 9:17?? don't know what happend here I readjusted the distance, but it's still too long, but somehow I'm getting slower??

3 - 10:99 sec - 8:39 better on the time so now I know from where to where it will be ten sec. Bit still not fast.

4 - 11:00 sec - 8:04 a bit better

5 - 10:80 sec - 8:31? Do I have any fast twitch muscles... it dosn't look like it :(

6 - 11:15 sec - 8:29

7- 11:43 sec - 9:08 went too long, starting to slow even more :(

8 - 14:59 sec - 8:05 too long again but faster... maybe I need more time to get up to speed?

So am I doing this wrong? Do I need to do shorter faster steps? Longer strides? Or just give up because I'm somehow genetically just slow.

Ran back to the gym and made a better effort to stretch, then headed home. Did anyone else see the sunset? It was fantastic... like the clouds were on fire!! So Beautiful :)

I used to hit the wrong button all the time when doing hill sprints. Now, after doing it for about a year, I'm finally getting the hang of it.

As for how to increase your speed on the hill sprints, I suggest that you just do 2 or 3 hill sprints next time and then add one more each week. Also, focus on good form and fast leg turn-over, not on a long stride. I don't know what else to tell you.
