Short-Term Running Goals:

It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011.  When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. 

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free.  Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running.

Personal:

Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us.  It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up.  I love seeming them happy and succeeding.

Slower easy run today after taking yesterday off.  Kept it in the lower end of Zone 2.  Going to the nutrition class tonight.

Speed workout today.  After warming up did:  4  x 1200 w/400 cooldown  8:00 (168 HR) - 7:57 (168) - 7:57 (175) - 7:49 (175).  Last interval was a 1600 @ 7:57 (177).   It was alittle hard to get my HR up today about 175. Was very happy that I could  do the last interval session.  Nice cooldown run.

Normal day all around.  Normal day at work. Normal run at the gym on the TM.  Kept it pretty easy after yesterday's speed work.

Easy run today in the lower end of Zone 2. At times it's hard to keep my HR into Z2.  But, I don't want to push it to hard and get to far into that zone.  Marlin and I are trying to pay attention to what we eat.  We've been going a nutrition class from church.  Sure makes you aware.

Nice run at the gym on the TM this afternoon. I was so glad it was friday!  I knew I'd do at least 7 miles but ended up doing 9.  When I got to 8 just decided to do 1 more.   Overall, my HR was maintaining in the low to mid range in Zone 2.  It did get alittle higher than I'd like a few times.  When I got home I could tell my weight was down.  Weighted in at 113.  I haven't been that low for a super long time.  I made sure and ate a super good dinner!!!  Hoping to do a long run tomorrow.  We'll see what happens in the morning.

Thought about running outside today.  But, ended up at the gym.  Can't wait until the sun comes out more!  The plan was to run 7 miiles, but it was turning out to be a good run so ended up doing 10.5.  I'm learning to breath so it keeps my HR down.  I just kept it at a 9.50 min mile.  But, I managed to keep my HR down super low.  Kept it at the below Zone 1 actually.  Just need to keep practicing.   Tomorrow is a day off.  My sister is taking her kids skiing and asked if I want to go.  Odds are I won't go, but it does sound fun.  I'm hoping to go cross country skiing in the next couple of week.   What I really want is warm weather!

In a week and a half Marlin and I are going to Napa for him to run the marathon there.  Sure wish they had a half.  It'll be great because we're staying with my sister and her husband for the first couple of days and then we're all going to Napa on Sat.  Got a good deal from a friend of ours for a hotel.
