Massive loop around 4th Plain to the Vancouver Mall, 87th TVC and McGillvery. Didn't hit the wall today so an improvement from two weeks ago.
Ran the first 10 miles easy to the Best Western by the mall. Around mile 7 I tried to eat a Stinger brand energy gel. It made me want to puke and I could only eat 25% of it. I grabbed a drink at ten miles and then started a 9 mile tempo back home. The first was 6:08; typical for the first mile after easy ones... Mile 2 was 6:28 as I gained over 150 feet in half a mile. The next 7 miles were consistent between 5:50-5:30 each. I was planning on doing ten tempo miles but with basically no fuel and just one small drink of water, there was no way I could muster out even one more mile at that pace. Final mile in 8:something. Averaged 6:38 for the 20 miles.
