According to Sasha's "training mistakes" it is not too late for me to get some mileage in for my April marathon.

"If you are going from sporadic training (2-3 days a week) to consistent (6 days a week) you can in most cases go ahead and nearly double your mileage by running the same daily volume with greater frequency. If that is too much, then cut the daily volume as appropriate, usually 20-30% cut will do. Similar principle if going from single runs to training twice a day - keep the first run the same, and add some easy jogging for the second run."

This means I can add a day or two, ignoring the 10% rule, as long as those days aren't more than my normal runs. Excellent! I was worried about the extra mileage, but it seems as though it shouldn't affect me too much if it is just an extra 5 or 6 miler (or two).  Here's to a new goal of ~35 miles this week :)

Huh?

Thanks, Missee!

Brenty, I added up my weekly mileage for my training and even during my longest week it was super low. It freaked me out. So I am going to add one more run to boost it a little. I didn't think I could because of the "10% rule" that says you can't add more than 10% each week, but Sashsa (the blog creator) basically says you can add a run a week that's consistent with the rest and it doesn't matter. So I'm adding a 5 miler to my training this week; nothing big but it will make me feel a lot better. You, sir, need to just rest!

There was a lot of math involved in all of that. Remember, you were the reason i got through college algebra.

I'm only swimming and cycling this week. Hopefully it will keep my fitness up. Doesn't hurt my knee at all.

That's interesting, I had thought the same thing about the 10% rule. I could definitely benefit from increasing the number of running days but I'm nervous about it! Way to DOMINATE that run - #1 is AWESOME!
