Today marks the beginning of a new running chapter for me. I ran a tenth of my last run about 2.5 months ago. Slow and steady!

Since my last run (and subsequent injury) a lot has happened:

- I finished my first year of teaching- I survived!

- Clarky poo has turned from an adorable baby boy to an obnoxiously-stubborn toddler puppy.

- My knee's swelling went down and I finally stopped limping about 6 weeks later.

- I didn't get my knee looked at. I am sure I will regret this but I feel as though it is too late now.  I just got too caught up in the end of the semester. If it happens again this training session I will go right away.

- My brother got uncomfortably close to my family 5k record.  It is only a matter of time, but I would like to be in the condition to fight for it!

So now I start from scratch again.  Here goes nothin'!

Good Job!! You have a good 2 months to get into some fast shape for the Duthe2 Duathlon. We're going to kill it! And you're family 5K record is mine by the way. I plan on taking it at the Jingle Bell 5K in Glen Burnie this November. I decided to be nice and let you hold onto it a little longer. You're family marathon record is going to be a goner, too, that is, unless you run a sub 6:40 pace for the back 4 miles at the Duthe2.

I started from scratch last week -after a 6 week injury break. I'm in aerobic base building mode right now and just trying to stay positive while I ramp up. It's tough seeing all the people I used to run with blow past me. But I'll get back to where I was and you will too. Good luck to you!

YAY! You're back! So glad to hear that! Here's to a great running season!

Thanks ladies! (And Brent, I guess...)

Lindsey, I feel you. But in the long run our bodies will be happy to have had the break (fingers crossed). I am sad I missed the pretty springtime running weather though. Good luck on your journey!
