My wife, Teresa, has stayed by my side for over 21 years and I am a much better person as a result. Kristoffer, our only child, is now 15 and continues to exceed all my expectations. If you look in the dictionary under the word luck you will see my smiling face.

After work this afternoon I had to complete the long run that I missed while driving to Kansas City on Sunday. Unfortunately, while I was motivated to run today the legs proved a bit unwilling and I was forced to stop at the 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 marks to rest my calves. After the 3.0 mark though I was able to proceed -- slowly -- with the remainder of the run. The rolling hills that make up the terrain near the hotel also made the run seem so much longer as it kept the pace slow.

I thought I might pick up the pace a bit today but the hills near the hotel seem to be too tough for me. In addition, I feel like I have lost quite a bit of cardio in the weeks I was unable to run and then to slowly put miles back into my legs.

I am so glad that I was able to run today. NOT because I love running but because it means I am very much recovered from yesterday's bout of intestinal disorder.
