2 bikes, 1 stroller, 1 flat, too many cars. I didn't like this run, but we all got home safely, despite the best efforts of inattentive drivers and little girls. Lucky.

7 p.m. Hope and change run while listening to election returns. I had one good 1/2 mile pickup on the way home. Today I feel a bit creaky. I don't know if it's the run or yard working 2 out of the last 3 days. This is my longest running layoff unrelated to a marathon; things have been busy. If I'm not careful, I'll miss out on my 2000 miles in 2012 goal.

It's been busy with fall cleanup and home improvements. Work too, I guess all that aside, I've learned definitively that I'm not a 2-3 runs a week runner. My mood and wellness have steadily declined. I'll be resuming a more typical 4-5 runs per week. 6.5 on the treadmill, 7-8-7-8-7-8 mph with a cool down. The run made an immediate difference.

After 17 driveways in the last 12 hours, I talked spencer into joining me for a trail run. We made a few first tracks, scared up 4 deer, slipped around a bit, and had a great time. Every available surface was buried. The single track was barely discernible as a crease in the expanse of white. I don't recall a more beautiful, rewarding run.

Treadmill 10k after work. I didn't go very fast. It doesn't feel like the Kinvaras have any cushioning remaining. I'll have to try them on the road and see if I get that result again. I goofed off so much the last couple of weeks that I now have to run 31 mpw to finish with 2012 with 2012 miles. |

| Big lunch + Chili's for dinner + flu bug = long night. So far we have 62.5% penetration with the infection. At one point, all three upstairs bathrooms were occupied while I was holding puking Jack. Things are (fingers crossed) improved this morning. Poor limp Jack. He's all wrung out. | Comments(3) |

Family run with Jack in the stroller, little A girls on bikes, Tami & I running. We took Pages to Legacy to Glover then came home. This was by far the longest ride ever for the girls. We had a beautiful window of weather for a November Saturday, and enjoyed incredible wintry views of cloud, earth and sky.

With Jens, hatching a plan for the 10k on Thursday. For how much he's worked, we figured abc goals of 47-49-51. It was a great night, and we got to talk about stuff besides running.

Turkey trot with Jens. He ran 48:07, good for 3rd in his age. Grace ran 1:02, and didn't stop the whole time. They both got pies for awards. It was a beauty of a morning.

These shoes are about worn out, but I like the colors and memories. Plus I misplaced my newer shoes...I may need to offer a few bucks to the little ones; they almost always find my lost stuff. Sometimes I wonder if they hide it and wait for the reward to be offered before "discovering" the missing item.

9 p.m. Tonight I found out I can play tiny towers while running 6 and 7 mph. Finding missing bitizens isn't possible, but elevating to floors and stocking are fine. There was a dearth of competetive football games recorded by my DVR. My shoes remain missing. Darn kids.

6:45 a.m. Treadmill 10k, sluggish 55 minutes. Not much to report otherwise. Oh yeah...air quality is 4th worst in the country. Sorry if you live in Olympia, Port Angeles, Cowtown, or the Salt Lake Valley.

6:45 a.m. After 2 toasts, I got a couple miles on the TM. When I stopped to clear out my nose, I heard Jack in the next room shouting. "Time to get up." He was soaked. I got him cleaned up, and ran out to the garbage can to dispose of the evidence. It was surprisingly temperate. I grabbed a shirt, spurned the treadmill and finished the run outside. 'Twas a beautiful, clear morning. I visited Ricks Creek, drawing strength from the water spirit of melting snow. Then I came home to chase the girls off to school, split a bowl of oatmeal with Jack, shower, and leave for work. (allie's oxford comma) These morning runs make me pretty sluggish, and it's a long-lasting effect. I think I prefer running in the evening and going to bed, waking up all recovered. It is nice to have the evening free, though.
