Morning run outside.  We had a big lunch meeting at work, so I had to finish in time for that.  I announced "Mandatory Family Run" and got 3 of the bigger kids to run 1 mile.  The little girls rode their bikes.  The sun wasn't exactly shining, and the day wasn't exactly warm, but it was nice to be outside.  My 12 year old runs like a duck.  My 16 year old goes too fast and makes herself very uncomfortable.  I didn't get to observe my 14 year old.  My 17 year old refused to participate.

Tomorrow is a 16-18 miler, little big workout.  I'm planning on 4 zig-zags after 10-11 miles.  These are .5 mile ascents up the switchback trail at Freedom Hills park.  Tara and Andy can attest that it's a rugged 800 meters.

The unpaid internship continues.  Fingers crossed.  I'm too old for a job like this.

nice running Kam -

what is this unpaid internship of which you speak?

i'm also curious about the unpaid internship...i did that once in indiana and ended up chopping parsley for eight hours straight.

i love the mandatory family run idea -- sounds like fun. the only thing i used to [very unhappily] participate in was mandatory kitchen cupboard clean-out day.

good luck with the little big workout tomorrow. sounds like a good one.

It's hard to make anything mandatory for a 17 year old.

The unpaid internship is the result of running out of money before additional funding is in place. So far, we are 4 weeks sans pay. Hopefully conditions improve over the weekend.

allie, was that eating the old stuff in the cupboards, or just cleaning the crumbs and accumulated spills and throwing stuff out?

Have a good run tomorrow Kam, I always enjoy reading your blog. It makes me feel bad because my blog is usually just -- miles, pace, distance and "I feel beat up".

your kids running sound a lot like my kids running. It drives me nuts, but I hope they stick with it and eventually love it - and get better :)

Good luck with the little big. I'd like to try those zig-zags sometime...when I'm not a pansy :)
