Personal:

400m/800m competitively in track in high school.  Took 15 years off. Started running again in 2010.  Married to my beautiful wife, Tiffany, with 2 little boys, now 4 and 6.  I'm a civil engineer working for the Indiana DOT in Seymour, IN.   I live in a slightly larger town about 20 miles north - Columbus, IN.  Originally from Lexington, KY.

5k Race in Seymour.  Quick WU - 1mi. +a couple pickups.  Paid the price in the race for lack of WU and recent poor training.  Unrecognized effort levels and uneven splits - Typical result for an undisciplined, undertrtained runner (That's me)  I ate way to close to the race and went out at an unrealistic pace for current specific fitness level. 

Splits:  5:39, 5:51, 6:13, and a similar similar pace on partial.  PAthetic - 18:41 for 3rd place and getting passed by a guy I should beat in the last hald mile.  

On a side note, I am not going to the 100 mile race.  I am scraping the idea and running 100miles altogether.

I understand about holding yourself to a high standard, but one thing I've learned from running is that we have to enjoy where we are. Was it a good result given your lack of training, bad eating, under-disciplined state? It can be motivation, but beating oneself up isn't always good motivation--at least for me. Just my $.02

You and I have logged a few miles together over the years. I've noticed that we both kind of 'peaked' around 2014. For me, I've had to realize that there has to be a good life balance. God has blessed both of us with two beautiful children and understanding wives which also demand some of our time. Try to fall back in love with running again... even if your not setting a PR every race :)

btw: I still hope to run a sub 3 marathon. I'm just not sure when. It's kind of hard to get there for me while only logging 40 to 50 miles a week.
