Met up with my BBK friends for a cold run on the JRP.  We had a good group today and warmed up for about 4.5 miles and then did 3.5 miles at tempo pace and then cooled down for a mile.  Our tempo pace was progressive starting out at about 7:45 - 8:00 and ending at 7:00 - 7:15.  This was the first good run I have had in a while which makes me very happy.  I think part of it was because instead of focusing on a pace or number to aim for, I ran by feel.  If you had told me that we would be in the low 7's, my mental blockade against fast would have taken over.  Better to go by feel.

Happy Running!

Jody- you are so speedy - My inspiration! Maybe next week you can carry some icecream for me so I'll try harder to keep up with you :) I know exactly what you mean by the mental block! Today was my first day with the Garmin (New Toys, YEA!) and Kelli had me check mine because her pace said 9:40 and she knew we were faster than that. Mine said 7:50 and I hit a wall, my mind said "hey, you can't run that fast this long...you're tired and need to stop" I was really starting to feel good until that point! Dang Garmin! I still love it though, I love knowing MY distance and pace. It wasn't set for miles splits (Scott had to help me with that) but my AP was 8:48 for 10 miles. I really wish I wouldn't have slowed down after I saw the pace, stupid mind! I still need to conquer it!
