Spent the afternoon hiking through stunning landscapes in Capitol Reef National Park. We are staying in an eclectic cabin in Torrey for the next couple days. I found some dirt roads that head into the Fishlake National Forest, so that's where I can be found in the mornings and evenings while we're down here. I love this part of the world.

Superfly is from Torrey... Thrilling!

Yep. That's my hometown you just spent the weekend it. Soo many cool places to explore. Don't you just love that morning wind... It gets me every time I go back. And the elevation. Sounds like a fun weekend.

It's such a great little town with so much to do around the area. I like it better than Moab and some of the other more traditional SoUT hubs.

What street did you grow up on? I'm familiar with all 5 of them now :-)

LOL... I grew up on main:) And I agree. I love Moab. A LOT. But Torrey is better. Of course I have a slightly jaded opinion. What's the name of the cabins where you stayed? My uncle owns a small hotel right when you come into town from the West. It's called Boulder View Inn. I lived with my great grandparents down in the center of town. Kind of by the two burger joints: Slackers and Chillz.

We stayed in a cabin on River Road that we foud on VRBO, a stones throw from Boulder View. I loved the access to the great western trail from there... right up the street.

Are you a descendent of the Behunins who have that historical cabin in the park by Fruita?

From Superfly on Tue, Sep 02, 2014 at 16:21:02 from 64.255.89.246

Sweet. Everything on the left side driving down River road is Behunin family property. So if you ran up the great western trail up the street that's called Sand Creek road. Up to the water tank and creek. You can get a good loop in up there too. And if you keep going up it gets really really cool where the red rock meets the mountain.

Yes I'm a direct descendent to Elijah Cutler Behunin. He's like my great great great grandpa. And he built that cabin and helped settle Fruita. And one of his sons Issac named Zion Canyon... now known as Zion NP.

Just some family facts. Thought you'd want to know. :)

That's cool - I find it fascinating. Your family runs that town!

And thank you so much for saying Zion NP and not Zion's/Zions - that's my biggest Utah pet peeve :-)
